Lol sounds a lot like the story of my life. I didn't even know swears were a thing until middle school.

Young adult novels just means novels for young adults as the target audience. In my case I remember in grade 2 I started a series called "Redwall" that I enjoyed at the time. :)

Once when I was in either kindergarten or first grade, a friend came up to me excited and whisper-sang a song to me. I didn't get it, so he told me it was a song of 'all swears'. I laughed politely. I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. :P

And now looking back, I have no idea how you could make any kind of song remotely interesting using only swears, but I guess we were children...


I think it might have been grade 6 when I finally realized what the middle finger was? XD

I was pretty innocent (well, uninformed rather) as a kid, and well into my early teens. The only reason I learned half the stuff is because there were so many crappy excuses for people in my school at the time.
