Seems you can also buy region free players, which I assume most these days will be.

Surprisingly it's exciting to watch a rainbow, especially when the end is 3 streets away right into a building. But hey, Sky threw the pot full of gold and glory away

I doubt that, but it could happen.
I wouldn't be surprised for the next step to be some kind of flash memory rather than a disk though.
 
I'll always prefer owning something physical rather than digital... Read an article a while back that argued that because we as humans will always prefer high-touch over high-tech, hence things will never cease to exist in some physical form
