No that was a result of a height cap. It is a temporary measure and isn't a great way of handling but will work for now I guess.

A site theme should change all or a good deal of text and bg colours. It is pretty easy to do if you have organized your site well :)
Just put all colour information in a structure/object/class/whatever equivalent you have, and then make several different themes that choose what set of colours to use.
