My old laptop, by the end, would take maybe half a minute to turn on, and then another minute before it would be really usable after that. My computer now that has an SSD takes about 7 seconds to turn on, and about 1 second to be usable after that. SSDs are a joy to all mankind. :)

Which reminds me that after exams I still need to finish fine-tuning the OC on my CPU.

There is a an app/or script I used for measuring my Boot up time btw. Did you just take the time manually ?

I haven't messed with my OC for a long time, I hope I still remember how to -.- Its actually quite simple with todays stuff though. And yet there is still room for some depth for reaching the higher heavens.... Something I never learned.

And I remember that CPU you had....xtreme series even, I was planning to buy it, if I won the lottery along with a host of other things as well hehe. Sounds like you got no shortage of money....must be nice.

Yeah mostly just manual actual counting. In Win 8 task manager actually tells you your last BIOS time (this time was 7.8, so 8 seconds).

I don't know very much about overclocking, and I would like to get better. Trying to make one with variable voltage so it isn't running warm all the time.

Right now I have 3770k @ 4.5GHz I had it at 4.7 for a while but ran into some trouble and just set some things down a bit because I didn't want to deal with it. Planning to give it a solid 4.6 OC once I get the time to actually run tests. I don't care about making it something ridiculous (to the high heavens :P), since the performance gains really are nothing that impressive between 4.6 and 4.8 or something. It might save me 30 seconds on transcode times per episode of anime. :P

technology every minutes it passes is evolving so who know what is gonna be tomorrow in 3 month in 6 or in a year? So For the present is the SSD my opinion where boosted the PCs
