DOTA is a MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) game. MOBA games are usually not friendly to newcomers, but it takes practice and research because most of the playable characters require certain builds, like Attack Damage, etc. I recommend playing with friends against bots first, but if you want the true experience, just hop onto a game with a few friends and hope for the best.

DOTA is more difficult in the MOBA universe, so I recommend League of Legends or Battle for Graxia for beginners, since they have certain elements that are best for beginners.

Also HON, and LOL are not on steam unfortunately...I actually prefer HON (heroes of newerth) over dota 2 though....Wonder what [MENTION=38786]Hinode[/MENTION] ; might think of that.
