I can't even pronounce one character. I plan on taking lessons this january.

and yes, I am too lazy to copy paste to google translate. :lmao:

エ = e
ク = ku
ス = su
カ = ka
リ = ri
バ = ba
ー = (To imply that the person said it over a period of time. eg. Onii-chaaaaaaaaan [Note the excessive amount of A's])
! = (You're an idiot if you don't know what this implies)

it took me 120 seconds to realize e-ku-su-ka-ri-ba read excalibur. T.T

It's really easy to read Katakana. It's mainly used for English words. eg. Pancakes = Hot Cakes = Hoto Cakey.

i have trouble identifying and well reading the characters

Its just the trouble of remembering the katakana I find xD

But at least I'm not too lazy able and able to get some simple meanings by just copy and pasting it into Google Translator :P

meh, I can't do that on the psp or in any of my console games in japanese. T.T

I have a feeling that I will be teaching another person how to read and write Japanese characters...

Katakana is a simple alphabet to learn. It mainly consist of lines and simple strokes. Here are some basics for reading Japanese (Katakana and Hiragana): When reading Japanese, each character has a relation to another character. eg. ハ (ha) can have other symbols with it, such as バ (ba) and パ (pa). There is a small trick to these little symbols: Whenever you see a small circle as the little symbol at the top right of a character, it always starts with a P.

Also, tsu = ツ and shi = シ

can you direct me to a resource of this? I've been searching but the ones I found only tackled sentence construction and syntax but none referred to how to actually read them like how you described.

so a quotation mark on the character means it's a "b" sound while a circle would mean a "p" sound?

aexiel ; Circle always starts with a P. Quotation marks are a bit different and difficult, since they start with different letters. eg. バ = ba ダ = da.

:dispirited: maybe I'll never learn... or maybe I'd take a year. T.T

I learn kana by playing TCG with kana text. it's easier than memorize them one by one.

Awesome, Nana Mizuki as Najimi Ajimu, or sometime known as Anshin'in-san xD So going to love Anshin'in-san :3

Here is the master of yoda-speaker again back, guys...:goodtea:~>

Hmm its mostly the syntax of your sentence thats making it yoda like~ Youre probably using the sentence structure of some other language thus the differences~
