Hmm... anyone know what driver effects screen brightness if there is one? O.o

It will normally be built directly into your monitor, and will be controlled from there with its buttons. Not sure if there would be any way to alter it with drivers, because its minimum and maximum settings should be somewhat absolute.

you usually can set gamma values from the driver. It isn't brightness though it has similar effect

Well its just that the windows 8.1 update made it so i cant adjust screen brightness and starting at it at max is just somewhat tiring for the eyes.... hmm so gamma values... where can i poke at that?

tweaking gamma value isn't recommended. Windows 8 has brightness control right?

Yeah its broken >< No matter what i do to it... it doesnt change the brightness... The bar moves and all but even lowest brightness is the same as max brightness...

That sucks, but yeah don't bother messing with gamma...


Try swapping video drivers (to either newer if they are available, or older if not). I'm guessing you are on a laptop?

Note: I went through a bit of this with sam on skype. :)

It is worth tinkering with the drivers, but it may not be resolved until either windows fixes something or intel releases a new driver.
