First anime you ever saw!

ninja hattori-kun! it used to have a decent run on cable tv where i lived. reaaaal old school
 
I remember watching Sailor Moon on tv late at night because only then they had reruns. Also Naruto and old Shaman King. It makes me want to rewatch those series now lmao

I totally get you, same here! Although I didn't realize that it was an anime at that early age, I came back to watching it when I became an adult

Technically Yu-gi-oh/Pokémon/Sailor Moon, but the first one I went out of my way to find online was probably Fruits Basket or Inuyasha. My first Ghibli film was Spirited Away, but I personally don't consider Ghibli anime as it's too divorced from anime culture. Shinkai is much closer.

Edit: I got into Naruto pretty late (my friend had to drag me into it), and for whatever reason decided to start with Shippuden. Maybe because that was airing at the time? I'm glad I did, because I don't have any of those negative associations with Sakura that most people tend to have haha.

Before I even knew what anime was, I was watching:
Sailor Moon, Kabamaru, Candy Candy, Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh and Sailor Moon
I was in elementary school back then.

A few years later a friend talked to me about Bleach, and the first ones I went looking for myself were Vampire Knight and Junjou Romantica.

Pokémon when I was a kid, but I didn't even know anime was a thing.
Transfer student showed me Naruto when I was older and that got it me into it.
 
...Does Doraemon count? I watched that when I was very young. (I still sometimes do today, adulthood can't stop me)
Sailor Moon was my next one I think

For me Detective Conan was the anime that got me hooked to watch more. As a kid it tickles my brain to discover who's the suspect and whats gonna happened next.
 
Pokemon for me! The first one I was really into was Shaman King
 
It all depended on what anime was on TV back then.
Probably Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, or Macross.
Later it was mostly Detective Conan.
Looking back, the early Conan episodes were so scary.
 
Naruto! When i was 4. I still remember how confused I was watching Sasuke and Naruto smooching (on 1st episode) on my family bulky ahh TV. My sibling immediately turn it off after that. Good ol times 😆

Cinderella monogatari, if anyone's even heard of it... It aired on a kids' channel, and it was what first got me into anime
 
It was 100% Pokemon and then some Naruto I think, toonami literally introduced me to anime but I still didn't know that it was any different than regular old cartoons. But by technicality, Pokemon
