yeah, he was just put at half health, and i decided to try catching him because i accidentally burned him, and i wanted time to use a different pokeball when necessary, and i caught it on my first try

I did the same thing. If it doesn't have the caught icon, I would farm it until I did, if I failed to catch on first encounter.
