Thanks to a court hearing on the 17th of January this year, it is now legal for children between the ages of 12 and 16 to engage in sexual intercourse.

And here I thought the social fiber of my country couldn't unravel any further than it already has.

Apparently, to prevent children from going to jail for engaging in sex, they've now gone and make it legal.

What's next? Making drugs legal to keep those addicted from going to prison because they steal to afford more drugs?

Its kind of sad. I mean, since most of us live in peace abidding countries... we are way too pampered to undestand the reality of those places. Man... "scalating sexual violence" between the 12-16 yrs old group ? Thats beyond me. When i was 12 i cared
more about games that hitting on girls, less raping them. -_-u

Maybe the solution would be to make abortions freely avaliable to all ? To me thats way more sensible.
 
Hmm... but expensive as well? Well... 12 isnt actually young if it was those places in the past but... young to us...

Ahh... didnt poke the article :/ But if there was rape... then i guess... arrested... hmm... what other way to stop them... they need incentive that would actually work :/
 
Hmm older trying to get younger? And well if its rape... I think theres some stupid rumor among some of them that having sex with a virgin is a cure for aids?...
 
Nah at 12-14 kids are still a bit young and they won't care about sex at all, but as they grow older they can be more 'curious' as to how sex feels like & end up having uncontrollable desire.. gah I'm bad at explaining my thoughts :\
If that is going to happen, then most of the kids there won't be a virgin anymore..
 
I think what it comes down to is parents. It is the responsibility of parents to protect and teach their kids. The government's role should be limited at best, except in cases of abuse obviously, where a government should intervene.
 
Hmm... well i cant really imagine how the place is culture wise and whatnot... but social pressures seem to be one of the most effective things in terms of causing change... the parents arent as influential on kids as they could be~ Friends could do much more...
 
If a parent has a problem controlling their child, they didn't whip them hard enough when they were little. When i misbehaved i got my buns whacked. I deserved it, it made me a better, more disciplined person. Right and wrong is taught from parents, not those weed smoking kids in high school. I never got into trouble because i learned young, if you screw up, it's gonna hurt later. Parents are the most important part of a kid's life, there is a right way and a wrong way to raise kids, that's how i see it anyway.
But of course i don't stick my nose in other people's business when it comes to raising their children, just my personal thoughts.
 
Hmm... well parents have personalities too ;p Some less suited to raising kids than others... But yes discipline is necessary for life...

The temptations of the forbidden? Well that depends~ Its usually fairly disappointing afterwards anyhow ;p

They are always tempted to do something that is not allowed by other people... sigh
 
Well thats also the fault of ignorance? People tend to say not to do something but not tell the reason why they shouldnt do something~
