well it's all been my fault everytime. everytime i've gotten viruses or malware, it's because my security was down for one reason or another. this time was because my antivirus subscription ended, and it decided to shut itself off -.-

No, I did buy notebook back in 2008 and I am using it since but i hopefully did not get any stupid things. Well you do need to make proper configuration because if you don't is pretty much useless no matter which Anti software you use.
