Three options seem just right.I really like the choice mechanics in the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series. Most options merely add interactive responses and develop the protagonist's personality; only a handful of pivotal choices determine which character route you unlock. There are alternative methods to boost affection points, such as participating in battles. Many fully text-based visual novels contain choices that look nearly identical at first glance, yet they can drastically alter whether you receive a good or bad ending—Amnesia is one such example.
