It took me 2 weeks at most for this (see below). But it's not much to learn though.
Japanese is split into 2 'parts' Kana and Kanji
Kana is comparable to Syllables and Kanji are words with acutal meaning, Like Tree or Fire.
(I gave up on Kanji since it's too hard/too many to remember ;-;)

I just find it annoying that there are close to 0 Western releases for Visual Novels.

Well, I hope, that you'll vs. me not be angry, but the bigger problem at Americans is. That at US made VNs never the spirit but could, how the Japanese so make would. Because there give too much difference between the cultures. ~>

that's pretty much how i feel. VN's were made based off of japanese culture. VN's America would make would be based on how we assume japanese culture is, rather than how it actually is
