don't worry about the original it had many flaws, also it doesn't follow the story of the next games :p

just watch the youtube videos of it :p

and start from mk2 its much much better....

From my point of view the original is Neptune story and Mk.2 is Nepgear story from how they are playable from the beginnig of the game.

From Compa nickname for them "I want to play with Nep-Nep first then Gear-Gear".

On a bonus side those 2 games will last till Neptunia V released stateside. From how the way NISA released the first 2 game during Feb. 2011 and Feb. 2012, Neptunia V will probably come out next year Feb. 2013.:D

Well you will find the first game sooner or later. Like you said story is not connected so order of gameplay doesn't matter.

Definitely getting V on released date, I will be getting the Limited Edition if it available.
