What are your opinions about AI generated otome voice/games

I always quickly scroll away every time I see situation voices with an AI-generated image attached to it. It immediately gives me a bad impression of the product, and most of them look ugly/weird to me anyway. Even worse when it's an AI-generated voice, who wants to listen to that? No thank you.

AI in anything that involves creative direction feels extremely low-effort, and like it's only there to make money off people who don't know any better. I believe everyone should have the right to consciously choose not to support AI, so, as much as I'd love to combat it in any way and prevent people from wasting resources on straight-up slop, it's just sad to see how AI usage often goes uncredited.

There are cases where you'd never know unless the studio admitted it, and that feels especially predatory towards consumers. I myself decided to stop supporting Voltage and their games because of their use of AI in RBL (no idea if they addressed it in any way though, I'd love to know!). If they can't even be transparent about that, it just makes you wonder what else they're using AI to generate instead of creating actual meaningful stories with the help of real people.

I don't care if it speeds up the process or makes things more efficient. If you were able to do it before without AI, then clearly you're either choosing to be lazy or hoping to make a quick buck off people's hobbies. Every usage in creating something that people pay real money for should at least be mentioned in some way.

I hate them, i hate genAI, and I wouldn't even check them out if they use it for their games. though, I still haven't seen them (thankfully), but if I did, I wouldn't play it. I would rather support real human than an ai garbage who have no soul T_T

At this point, the quality of works in which the bulk of the creative process is left to AI is so low as to be out of the question, so I don't think they have any value.
Even if AI performance improves in the future, I would still prefer to appreciate art created by human hands rather than AI-generated imitations.

There are audio works on YouTube and DLsite that use AI-generated images for their thumbnails, but the quality is usually pretty low. I think when the main goal is clearly to make easy money, the audio itself tends to suffer in quality as well.

I don't think it's good. Especially in the otome game genre. I already don't like seeing that kind of thing in other genres, so I don't want to see it in the otome genre that I love.

If the dev cannot be bothered to put in the effort to actually make, then *I* cannot be bothered to make the effort to play it, much less pay for it. I see enough ai slop on social media these days, I've had to start blocking all the accounts that post it. I don't want to see it in games, too.
I would rather have uglier man-made art than that cookie-cutter things that AI makes.

To be honest, in that case, I'd actually prefer it if there were no voice acting at all. Personally, I have no problem with games that don't have voice acting and rely solely on text, although I know that many people don't like to read and prefer to listen.
As for illustrations generated by AI... Here, too, I prefer natural, less polished illustrations to overly artificial images.
Of course, using AI isn't a bad thing in itself—in theory, it was created to help—but I think games are, after all, a form of art and should remain primarily that.

I can "forgive" AI content in indie projects because sometimes it's the only way for someone to create their own game and realize their idea. But I can't be so lenient toward companies that allow AI slop in their projects. Like The Red Bell's Lament (Voltage) with their lazy AI slop on some backgrounds.

It sounds unnatural, emotionless and throws me off every single time I see one of such cases. Normally, I don't play with voices in these types of games if the plot is still good or I'll drop the game itself

I want to see that the author puts their authentic into their work. I don't dislike the AI itself, but I genuinely hate people who are using it the wrong way and are trying to flood the market with their garbage making a revenue out of it. AI generally sucks at complex creative work and shouldn't be used to make the thing from start to finish. It should be treated as a minor gofer or advisor (with a grain of salt), not as the boss of a whole project. Using it to do some tedious photoshop tasks - sure, generating whole pictures - no way, helping the writer with a few suggestions when they get stuck somewhere - sure, to write a full book - no way etc. No prompt can or should serve as the complete workaround.

I don't recall encountering any works I consume that use AI voices, and I'm grateful for that. But in general, I've never been a fan—even in cases where part of the work was done manually and the rest by AI, the difference is quite obvious. While playing Red Bell, I was constantly aware of the background; I later discovered it was because the game's settings had been created using AI.

I have held this stance since genAI started becoming a real concern. If you don't got the time to create it I dont got the time to consume it. I'm not going to waste my limited time on AI slop when I could be playing something that someone actually took the time and care to make.

i never ever purchase or listen to any work that has any sort of ai use. nothing will ever convince me to support genAI. as soon as i see it i know ill hate everyone to do with it.

No. Absolutely not. I just don't see how my heart is going to be moved by something that didn't have passion and hard work poured into it. Sure AI can string a bunch of words together to form a full story but it takes actual soul from real creators to have a proper story that feels genuine (even with an out-of-this-world plot involving transformers and a pig) with characters the players can get attached to.
