Weird quirks or preferences when you play otome games?

I somehow got a habit to read every bad ending in route first and only after that go towards good ending. Good stuff for dessert only

My first playthrough/route in any game has to be played blindly and choices are made according to my natural instincts. I like to see what kind of ending I would get if I were in mc's shoes and if I would even survive(most of the time I end up with a bad end or a game over screen lmao).
I used to do this a lot! But then I realized whenever I play my utmost favorite character's route first, I have a hard time finishing the game. So I've been doing my least favorite to most favorite whenever I play a game. It's really hard to do that with locked routes though lol.

I like to create special playlists with songs that I think fit the situations in the games I play. Honestly, it's not always easy to find the right songs, but that's part of the fun ( I do this in games that I like or think will be interesting)

For example, I don't really like scenes where you hear kissing sounds.. which I know sounds weird considering the kind of genre this is lol.
I feel the same, lol. I don't normally play with sound on, but if I do and I hear kissing the sounds I get creeped out for some reason.

I fully read through routes of characters I like but if it's someone I find annoying, I'll just skip most of it and read only parts I find interesting. I just want to clear the game most of the time or if a character I like is a locked/hidden route AHHAHHAH

I see a few others here are the same, but I used to save my favorite character for the final route. But ever since I got busy with work, I end up getting tired out by the less interesting routes before I can even get to the end, so I never finish the game lol

Going through a character's entire path to get the one you're interested in is a real pain.

I think my biggest quirk is that I only really like one otome game: Diabolik Lovers. I've played through all the games and finished several routes for the characters I was interested in.
I love the world and the atmosphere - the way it's all put together. There are also a lot of different character types.
I've tried others, but I've only played them once. Just one root - I've never dug any deeper.
Sometimes I enjoy some dramas, but that's also a passing craze.
Other characters I love from anime, books, and RPGs

I hate eating in otome games. The slurping, crunching, bags crinkling or utensils clacking on bowls and plates? Just stabbing into my ear. ヽ( `д´*)ノ

I also save my favorite character for midway or to last. Sometimes you get through a dud of a character's route and it's a little pick-me-up to play the story with the pretty character I wanted the game for to begin with.

I self-insert so not changing the name will (don't stone me!!) deter me from playing almost indefinitely. (ˊ•͈ ◡ •͈ˋ)

I also save scum so I will save before choices and replay and decide which flavor text I liked the best or fits my MC personality at that point.

I play exclusively with a walkthrough to collect all CGs my first playthrough (besides bad route endings). I rarely replay just to collect missing cgs from a route already played.

i think that's it..✧*。٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و✧*。

I don't think it's too weird to want to avoid kissing sounds. Some people have misophonia, and other people just think it's doesn't sound "real" enough, or it's too exaggerated. It's a bit unfortunate that it's categorized under voice rather than SFX, so people that want to avoid them can't really just turn the volume slider all the way down.

Is it only in otome games, or in real life as well? It might be misophonia. I know some people who's misophonia gets triggered even just looking at someone chew their food.

I don't think it's as serious for me to consider it as a phobia but I've definitely thought of it. o( ❛ᴗ❛ )o
I can handle it better in real life just due to the fact that it's a human thing to do...although, chewing with your mouth open when you can close it? absolute sin. 。゚(TヮT)。゚
games that choose to add it in just is nails on a chalkboard for me.

Not sure how unusual/uncommon this is, but I do something similar with TV shows. I go on an all out binge finishing everyone's routes (usually because I'm gunning for someone unlocked late-game or for a secret ending) but then stop just when I'm about to start the last route. Not even a brief hiatus but rather a full-blown "okay I'll drop this for one to two months before I play again." Sometimes I even forget to come back in time and have completely forgotten all the context. 😭
It's me! ! I have the same problem, I mean, when I do the less interesting routes to do my favorite one last, I wait a while so I don't feel like I finished the story in one go and didn't enjoy it xd

If there are five characters available from the start and my favorite is one of them, I'd much rather play his route first than save him for last.

I'd rather calibrate my expectations after playing the route I'm most excited for than spend hours working my way through a lineup of men only to discover that the one character I was actually interested in ended up having the worst route of the bunch. Especially if he's the poster boy of the game and half the marketing was built around him.

I've been burned by that strategy too many times to keep gambling on it.
