I did play it.

I took my time with that one... It was also thanks to that series that I could grasp kanji better.

Also, I read reviews, spoilers, and other information from both English and Japanese websites.

There are many allusions, terms, and other technical words, but with time and memorization, I could get through it.

It's still my favorite game out of the ones I read. Story, music, character design, overall game play... very good.
 
is reluctant to take a look at dies irae because it looks dark and long. i prefer something light for my heart and brain. ^^

I couldn't tell if that was a pun you made since Dies Irae is produced by Light and you mentioned you prefer something 'light'.

A short 'light' read would be 'Friends'... only read it for the artwork... xD
