From village quests? After I killed Jin for the first time in urgent for village I unlocked the one we just did.

I do not know much about Final Fantasy IX because I have not played it. I skipped VIII and IX and went onto Final Fantasy X.

Hmm.... You missing out on great games before S-E went wacko.....

VIII is my all time favorite even if it did have a silly battle system, IX wasn't bad had some nice elements and a good story that kept me drawn in - it is also Hironobu Sakaguchi's all time favorite FF, he calls it the height of his success or something like that.
