Do you use the Auto Play function when reading VNs?

For me it depends on the language I play in. If I play in English, I like to sit back and turn on auto play while having tea at times, but when I'm playing in Japanese I play manually because I'm a bit slower in general.

The only time I played in Japanese and turned on auto mode was when I was playing a game that was so boring I was desperately trying to keep it going and get to the end while getting distracted with other things so I wouldn't fall asleep. In the end I still ended up too sleepy to continue and decided to drop the game altogether.

I don't usually use autoplay, firstly because I use a translator so the program can get the text more easily, and secondly because I lose track of the story (even though I read fast). But sometimes, when a scene is really good, I prefer to analyze the story, or rather, avoid screaming with excitement so I can better process my feelings. ><

Only if am doing something at the moment =)) or if the skip button is too dumb to skip read dialogue for some reasons

I often use it in other genre games, but in vns it's too slow

no never, like you the speed is always either too slow or too fast and can't really be adjusted exactly how i want

Nah, the auto mode is normally too slow for me unless I'm listening to the character's VA speak but even then I'm just clicking the forward button instead of auto.

I usually only use it when my hands are busy aka while eating or cutting stickers and read it like watching TV

I play manually because I want to read at my own pace. That said, I'd definitely consider using it if I could customize the settings to perfectly match my reading speed.

If it's a customized speed, *sometimes*. Sometimes I like to brush my teeth and finish some dialogue at the same time so auto read is pretty convenient there.

But just as others have said, sometimes it is too slow for my preference.

No, I like to read at my own pace. There are times where I might want to reread a certain line again or I want to pause and take in the cg/background. I play otome games like I'm reading a book so I like clicking/pressing a button, similar to flipping pages in a book.

Omg no, it's like my worst enemy. I am and always have been a speed reader, and if I can read it faster than the text boxes pop up I am SO annoyed.

Actually, never. English isn't my first language, so sometimes it takes me a bit longer to read something. And sometimes the autoplay speed is too slow, so that doesn't suit me either.

No, it's hard to adjust it to match my reading speed. I treat visual novels like a book, even if I'm not doing anything I'd still prefer to flip the pages myself

I usually like to read at my own pace but at night it comes in handy, kinda like having an audiobook if it's voiced.

Not really, I read faster than the autoplay function at times, it annoys me so I just double tab my A button on my switch lol.

no, the pace is usually too slow for me to the point that it ends up being more annoying than helpful.
