Do you self-insert while playing otomes?

Do you see yourself as the heroine or a separate character?

Depend on which game I play since I can self-insert, see heroine as a separate character from myself or create an oc that based on that game setting

I personally see myself in the character, because you choose to make decisions, and even though sometimes the character says things I wouldn't say or do in my daily life, it's fun to see things you wouldn't normally do.

I used to self-insert a lot when i first started reading so I did see myself has the main character but now; I see my self as a spectator watching their story unfold.
(´・ω・`)

More leaning separate character, though, I can sort imagine being them if it has customization or just a hidden face

As Seperate character morn than myself. Because my heart not strong enough to see heroin as myself. dokidoki tomaranai~🤣

for me it's always a separate character! i'm a BxG fangirl, but i don't really want to participate😔 and when the heroine is a blank slate type, i sometimes like to come up with bits of her character and dynamic with LIs that don't go against the story but i think could be interesting (or even create an oc if the heroine is customisable in any way)

I never really self insert,,The protagonist also has her own personality. I really like a female protagonist with personality, because it makes the story more interesting

I treat her as a separate character. I like watching her story

Separate characters because most of the time I get annoyed easily with FL in otome games.

I prefer seeing the heroine as a separate character who fits naturally into the world of the game rather than imagining myself as her.

I always see myself as someone supporting and watching over the heroine, so I don't really see myself as the protagonist.
But I think if I did see myself as the heroine, I'd probably get even more immersed in the game and enjoy it differently. 😍

i don't! i view mc as a completely separate character and i really enjoy it when they have a strong set personality, it's interesting for me to read about them that way.

almost never.. I think the heroines' characteristics or the backgrounds that's provided the game is one of the things that make the game interesting

i do both, most of the time i self insert but there are also times where I treat the mc as a separate character especially if they have a strong personality or solid character background it's a bit hard to imagine myself as them. i still enjoy this type of heroine regardless

No, I don't self-insert.
Instead, I prefer to see myself as an observer or a reader — cheering them on from the sidelines, enjoying their love stories like a novel or a movie.
That way, I can fully appreciate the heroine's charm.
It makes the emotional moments hit just as hard — maybe even harder — because I'm genuinely rooting for her happiness. 💕

No. I prefer observing the protagonist's story as an outsider rather than experiencing it from their perspective.

No,I don't self insert. I view the MC as her own character and enjoy her story.

I personally don't self-insert when playing otome games. I usually see the heroine as her own character and enjoy watching her relationships and story develop naturally.

i think it depends for me :O i realised i only insert myself to the mc if i like the LI. if i'm not that attracted to the LI, i unconsciously read the whole route as a mere reader

I'm one of those who don't self insert. Because most games already have backgrounds of the main characters, I think.
