Do you play games in Early Access, or wait for the full release?

I always wait for the full release! Having cliffhangers between unfinished routes or dealing with bugs completely ruins the immersion, so I'd much rather binge the entire, polished story all at once.

I usually wait for full release except in cases where the early access offers full routes one by one and i know the developer's style and really love the game, art...etc

Full Release ! !

Omggg i agree!! Nowadays almost every game on itchio is a demo!? It's so frustrating especially coz few of the demos I had an eye for a long period of time are just abandoned with no updates at all. It's probably the reason I no longer download any game from there.

AAAHH this is exactly what I was thinking about recently.. I bought Fields of Mistria (totally unrelated to otome games I know but still cute) on steam during early access cuz i was SURE i would like it, but i just refused to play it until it came out of early access officially... cuz things would definitely change and i usually dont like to replay games..
for otome or bl games its more like 'im not sure if the game will be completed so i shouldnt start something i might end up liking and never get to finish playing'.. plus its more often than not going to be rather buggy ;X

I'm definitely in the "wait" camp as well!
I usually prefer to wait until a game is officially released before playing it, and I tend not to play demos, whether they're released before or after the full game. I do enjoy watching the opening video over and over while I'm waiting, though.😆
Even after the full release, I usually don't jump into a game right away. I tend to wait and see what other people think first, especially to see if there are any major bugs or issues, before I start playing.

Depending on the game, I usually wait for the full release. I might launch it to get a quick feel of the game, but it's rare I play a demo.

I usually wait for the full release. I feel like the first time I play a game is the freshest and most exciting, so I'd rather wait and have the best experience with the complete version.

That said, if a game is really appealing and the full release is still a long way off, sometimes I just can't resist and end up playing a little bit. So I usually wait, but there are definitely times when my curiosity gets the better of me...

I will play the demos and follow the game development, but I will only but the game when it is fully finished, sadly, many way too many games end up on indefinite hiatus or fully cancelled, so I am not taking any chances

For me, it's strictly case by case. If it's an otome game or a story-heavy visual novel, I wait for the full release so I don't lose the plot. But for gameplay focused games, I don't mind diving into Early Access right away.

I will definitely wait for the full release. Unfortunately, I found most of the early access games are failing me either due to overload bugs or incomplete. So I would rather to wait for the full release than playing early access then pick up later and finish it.

I prefer to wait for the full game to be released; I learned that the hard way. I've invested a lot of attention in projects that I doubt will ever see the light of day—Itch.io is full of unfinished games like that. I do still play some demos, but when I see a game is going to be episodic, I stick to the first episode and don't play any further until the complete version is out. I doubt the full version of Your Boyfriend will ever be released at this point, for example.

I don't like playing early access versions, I prefer to play the full game once it's been released. I want to spend my time on a complete work, otherwise it seems like a waste of time for me. Lots of early access games don't even make it to the full release.

full release all the way!
I'd play early access if it's only look very promising, alias if the dev is really committed into developing the game until it's a full product. Otherwise, hell nah 😔 I've been pranked and blueballed too many times by Early Access stuff im not gonna be fooled again 🤚
