Do you consider gameplay to be important in otome games?

In fact, the gameplay and combat system of the game are not important to me. If the game has complex systems, it may even affect my gaming experience more. I enjoy playing visual novel games with pure text stories. This is great for me!

If the gameplay and story are well integrated, that's great, of course.
To be honest, if I'm just watching the story, I usually just leave it playing as background music.

Not important at all, i actually prefer only story or story with very minimal gameplay/combat....etc. It actually takes me out of the story and the world and frustrates me if they are too hard to deal with.

I don't think its important at all! But sometimes I wish few Otome games will come out which will be full blown JRPG...or rather a full 3d JRPG (like Persona games or Atelier games or Final Fantasy games etc) will have Otome elements with Heroine choosing Male LIs~ That'll be dreamy~~

Think I've stated my views on similiar topics, but I still stand that I think the point of an otome game would be the romance, so unless the gameplay like implement that in or adds more to it, I don't think the gameplay's that important in comparison lol

I love *Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side*.
It's fun, with features like mini-games and stat-building.
I always get so nervous wondering if the character I'm hoping for will show up on graduation day!

I don't think I've seen much fun gameplay in any of the Otome games I've played. It usually only involves dialogue choices, stat building, and etc.. I wouldn't say it is important because I only play for the story and characters, not the gameplay.

Personally, I prefer otome games that are just like visual novels, so I'd prefer it if they focused more on the story or the depiction of romance.

For me it's a HUGE YESS

Personally the older I get, the harder it is to read VNs I just can't focus on that kind of presentation for long anymore. The last time I finished one was almost 10 years ago and it took me months to get through a story with just ONE ending. Still read them occasionally but only but only manage short chapter and NEED to have voice acting.
And find it easier to stick with games that focus on both story and gameplay (all kinds). Even if I enjoy the story I'm not always motivated enough to keep following it, and I get distracted by other games or anime pretty easily 🥲
What keeps me playing consistently is participating in events in game. I don't mind whether the gameplay is puzzles, tower defense, turn-based RPGs, action RPGs, or strategy 👈 As long as the game is well-designed for its target audience, even semi-idle gameplay works for me

Btw I've been playing LnD since week 1 because I was hyped for the combat gameplay. But after a year I started feeling like the experience just wasn't worth the device specs it demanded 💀 So I quit before 3rd anniversary. The reincarnation-across-lifetimes romance plot just isn't my thing, the gacha rates are brutal, and the combat feels kinda half-baked for a game that's also pretty P2W

Not really, personally! I care much more about having a good variety of LIs, pretty character designs and CGs, and a romance that feels believable and well-developed between the MC and the LIs than I do about combat, character development, or stats, haha.

If you'd like to try an otome game with combat, I'd recommend Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 6. If you're interested in stat-raising, I'd recommend Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side!

And if you're looking for something with even more gameplay, you might enjoy an RPG with romance options, like Baldur's Gate 3!

I also really like RPGs with romance elements (especially CRPGs), but maybe because I always look at otome games through the lens of visual novels, so most of the time for me it's story>gameplay. Though if there are more elements like raising stats or combat I like that too (I haven't played it yet, but I'm really interested in games like Jack Jennie that have different mechanics)❤️

For mobile/smartphone games, I completely agree that gameplay is super important! Honest truth: great story and voice acting are just the basic baseline for mobile otome games. Since we log in every day, it needs engaging gameplay mechanics to keep us coming back for more!

I think gameplay is kind of important to games because I will help me immerse games better sometimes. I want to engage the game more, even though it is a visual novel. But it doesn't need to have many gameplays in them if they aren't some kind of RPG-including - for lack of better word - games.

I love otome games with appealing characters and a strong focus on romance, and the story is also very important to me. I think it would be interesting to see more otome games that combine these elements with engaging gameplay. Personally, I'd love to see more games that offer both the fun of playing a game and the enjoyment of romance!

Theres Hardly Enough Gameplay Joseimuke To Be Able Rate Gameplay Genres In The Medium Without Just Describing One Or Two Games ; The Only Ones That Have The Most Shared Non VN Gameplay Has Got To Be The Stat Raisers , I Have To Avoid Them Unless I Want To Go Into A Shizo MinMax State Of Mind Though

I kinda prefer when there is no gameplay or the gameplay is simple, stat heavy otomes seem like a drag. Besides, the story and characters are what matters to me.

The painting style is the first impression of the work, and the beautiful picture makes people want to see and play.

The gameplay adds freshness and interest. Players don't have to click on the text all the time, which is monotonous and boring.

For example, P3P and koei Glorious Company's game design is diversified, with a high free schedule, and players decide to act every day.

You can practice and upgrade, work, play clubs, or develop romantic relationships, improve goodwill and trigger character events, etc.

I appreciate the mini game or other gameplay system in otome game and I enjoy playing it too. But I think the most important is still the story and the art/design of LI .

I never thought I'd care about gameplay in otome until I played TMGS3, now I realized it actually makes the game much more fun (as long as the gameplay elements aren't too hard or need a guide to get them right)
I like stat managements but there are other types of gameplay like choosing where you go on a map (I only like if it tells me where the LIs are) or a minigame (ahem... KLAP) but I found out there are some old otome rpgs too. Shame there aren't many new games like that

I don't like doing dailies in mobile games, but I love things like stat raisers, mini games, shop elements, etc. It's never a must-have for me but a nice bonus if it's done well :)
