This isn't the correct section to request for yuri games as this is the otome (female protagonist, male love interests) and BL (male protagonist, male love interests) section.

Please read Anime-Sharing's requesting rules carefully before posting a request in the future.

Since this is an all-ages visual novel with yuri pairings, I believe any requests for it should be made in the Miscellaneous Request forum.

I am sorry, but why bl is allowed, but yuri not? Since otome is games aimed at a female audience, i would think yuri games should be allowed too? I mean otome definition says An otome game (乙女ゲーム otome gēmu?, literally "girl game") is a story based video game that is targeted towards the female market. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male, or occasionally female characters. I don't want to offend anyone, but i am just a little curious, about this.

(First off, the following is based on my personal opinion and assumptions. I cannot guarantee that my statement is 100% correct, so by all means, feel free to correct me if you spot a mistake in my interpretation.)

Technically speaking, you're right. Otome games are targeted towards maidens/otome, so basically it doesn't matter whether it's a BxB, GxB or a GxG romance. I would even go as far and say a visual novel without any romanceable options could still count as an otome game (although imho it's more a regular VN) as long as it is clearly written with a female audience in mind.
Imagine a visual novel where the is a story about a young girl growing up and trying to find her place in society (y'know, the usual "you are a girl, so you should behave like one. Be sweet, be gentle, be kind and let the man handle things" versus "a strong woman doesn't need a man, she can and should be independent and show the world who's boss" dilemma that can be found in the Western media quite often in the past years). Instead of romance and Mr(s) Perfect, we get a lot friendship with both genders. At first it appears to belong to the general VN genre, yet it deals too much and moreover too realistically with a girl's everyday problems to be targeted towards a male audience. Bonus points if the art isn't all "moe-ish" or full of bishies, although that's not necessary.
But here's the thing: In the Japanese market, shoujo-ai and yuri games are mainly written with a male audience in mind. Especially in yuri games you will see tons of H scenes with little plot. Just like shounen-ai and yaoi games are (mainly) made for women to enjoy, shoujo-ai and yuri visual novels are "for guys" (nobody is going tp stop you from playing one though). That being said, the same can't be said about the English (indie) VN market. From what I've seen so far, most OEVNs with GxG options are targeted towards a female audience (and sometimes, it's meant for everyone to play). Maybe the difference between the two markets is a cultural thing?
Long story short: It's all about for whom the visual novel is intended to read. Just like there can be a shoujo-ai/yuri game for women, there can also be a shounen-ai/yaoi one for men. (However it is extremely difficult to find a VN with this criteria in the Japanese game genre, you'll be more lucky in the OEVN section.)

As for the requested game: In my opinion, it leans towards the female/general audience rather than the male one. So what if the protagonist is a lesbian? This doesn't seem like one of those H games with overly cute girls getting it on with each other that you see in the Hentai section. Making the request here or in the Misc section seems appropriate to me.
But in the end, the admins decide what is wrong and what is right here so maybe what I've written was a complete waste of time. lol

I agree with you, especially with the fact that it is simple to see which yuri games are more targeted towards males, by simply looking at art style, how girls are showed there. And i think it's good to tell your opinion, it is not a waste of time.

I apologise; it's my fault for being too general by simplifying things as "yuri, therefore not otome" in my initial reply. I should have been more careful with my wording. I'm certainly aware of the technical definition of "otome games". It's a very small market, but yuri otome games do exist. So small, that the majority of shoujo-ai/yuri you encounter in otome games are within otome games of the "traditional" G x B variety and are often regarded as an afterthought.

So why did I suggest that this has been requested in the wrong section? Because it looks like Brilliant Shadows is targeted towards a more generalised audience. It does appear more female-friendly than many other yuri games with the absence of highly sexualised female characters and character designs and writing that doesn't showcase the creators' laughable lack of understanding of lesbian relationships... but this is most likely in order to appeal to a larger audience rather than setting itself out to be an explicitly female-targeted yuri game. It's not overtly female-targeted nor overtly male-targeted.

I believe my view is supported by the Kickstarter campaign statement:

"Overall, there is an astounding lack of variety and diversity in the world of mainstream gaming. Gender, race, and sexuality are often not present in modern games or eroticized when they are.

Brilliant Shadows will attempt to break this paradigm by featuring a lesbian protagonist along with a slew of supporting characters that run the gamut in terms of both ethnicity and sexual orientation.

While the focus of Brilliant Shadows is on adventuring through a fantastical world filled with danger and magic, we wanted to incorporate characters that would be reminiscent of the people you interact with everyday."

Again, it looks like the creator wants to expand Brilliant Shadows' appeal. Doesn't sound like they're going for any specific gender or sexual orientation. Romance isn't even the main focus of this game.

At the end of the day, the only way for us to really know is to directly ask the creators themselves...

Therefore, I suggested that this be placed in the Miscellaneous section. It's the safest choice for a non-hentai "general" visual novel that doesn't fall into any specific section.

that's with the latest patch ?
11/17
Added a cg to ending 1, fixed a continuity issue regarding the golem, and the D in Aelf's name which was bugging people.
