Why not, if the story is interesting. But how do you write a story without any drama? There will be no difference between routes, if there are no problems. Even comedy titles have some serious moments. Maybe if it is a kinetic novel, it's possible
Excuse me for sudden BL, but Ariake from Ooe. He is an obligatory first route, and he looked like a standard nice guy with a standard nice story. Oh boy, how wrong was I. His face from ending CGs is forever in my heart in the best and worst way possible.
If we are talking about otome, it's...
I choose stories depending on my mood and because of it play many games at once. Simple and cute for workdays, something with another genre elements or heavy story for weekends. But sometimes it takes a long time to finish even one game
I've played Love and Deepspace, but it requires NASA level of specs from devises, so "played" is a little bit of stretch. More like "watched slideshow". 3D otome seems good, but at this time they are either look like old PS games (I love Jack Jeanne, but 3D parts could and should have been...
From Kickstarter I'm waiting for the remake (renewal?) of 冠を持つ神の手, but I was too late to actually back it during campain, so just going to buy it the second it's out. It's BL|GL|NL everything-all-at-once raising simulation game, and old version has good reviews
I love enemies to lovers trope! But I've never seen it being properly done in otome games :( Closest thing that is there - imbalanced relationship, where hate is one-sided and other side (usually LI) doesn't feel strong negative emotions. Or tsunderes, but it is also not enemies to lovers
It's not an English-only thing, if you learn other languages, it will be the same with them. I turn English and Japanese voices off in romantic scenes because my brain cannot deal with it, but I can listen to Chinese, which I haven't studied

You say it's nothing fansy but this looks like a huge amount of work. looks like it can take more time than reading a small-sized novel. Even my actual work isn't this much organized
If it's in a language I don't know and used translators - then yes, I will read localisation. If it's in a language I can read - then no, translation may be good, may be great, but it never will surpass the original
Also and getting injured while trying to get morning coffee 😅
My pick is Wand of Fortune. There are low chanses to die and I like magical school setting.
I was into anime and manga, and at one point of time it occured to me, that there should be japanese games as well. Started from games for general audience but soon discovered female-oriented stuff and what a happy day that was.
A good game is a good game, no matter when it was made. (And I feel old now 🥲)
Currently playing Trouble Magia and highly enjoyng everything that's going on
