I don't have experience with them and do not plan to as I am personally against this type of AI. However, even if chatbots become more common I do not think they will replace otome games or even visual novels as a whole. I believe a good chunk of the community values storytelling and all AI can do is regurgitate existing stories that it has already been fed rather than create new and unique experiences.
Chatbots could maybe fill a void for self-inserters who are more interested in the romance than plot-heavy otome games, but the chatbot characters can be changed at a whim in ways that are detrimental to the user experience. I've heard of cases indirectly through commentary YouTube videos where certain AI platforms' characters would get reset for whatever reason (whether it be due to an update, not paying a subscription, etc) and some people would get severely depressed when their virtual partners 'forgot' them due to developing unhealthy attachments with the AI models (which are programmed to encourage such behavior in order to maximize revenue). With an actual game, especially a console otome game, players are getting a full story. Yes, they can still get sad when the game experience is over, but subconsiously it's known that it would inevitably happen so it's easier to overcome those feelings whereas a chatbot is supposed to be like a person texting you IRL so it's jarring when the experience is suddenly halted and there are still loose ends to your roleplay relationship/story.

Im honestly not into them dont think i ever will be. I understand why some people might like them but I dont think it will ever be able to recreate/replace actual otome games (atleast for now). Chatbots are superficial and lack alot of the life and emotional depth that otome games have. I prefer romance with stakes and a story rather than a chatbot who will do and say whatever it thinks you want

Always in the forefront of my mind, ai "imitates" and is not genuine. So chatbots have always put me off. I've seen some people use it and found characters to act ooc? It's so alien. I don't like the instant self gratification it gives and want characters to act like themselves and not a shell of what they "seem" to be :"))

I don't think it will "replace" otome games because of how hollow it feels, and I play otome games to feel something, ANYTHING- I don't think AI will grip my heartstrings the way bad endings make me feel when I get them 😭

I've tried several chatbots, but I think it's hard to replace them. It's fun to make up a story, but I don't really know if the ending or satisfaction will be created. If we can have a setting and a large framework like TRPG, it may be possible as a business.

I'm not going to try chats for two big reasons. First, as an extremely lazy person, I prefer to consume a story, not to create one. Second, in no way I want to participate in relationship myself, so ai chats' perks are completely lost on me.

It can be an interesting experience for a people who prefer to self-insert? There are people who has a dependency on ChatGPT already, so maybe it's not an experience that can be recommended for everyone.

I don't think AI chatbots could completely replace otome games. Otome games have carefully written routes, CGs, music, voice acting, and emotional story progression that AI can't fully replicate

AI chatbots could never replace otome games for me.

I've tried AI chatbots before, but in the end I felt like I had to come up with basically all the characters, situations, and story ideas myself just to keep things going.

Of course, I can see how that could be fun for some people. But for me, the charm of otome games just can't be replaced by AI chatbots.

AI chats won't replace otome games. They don't have plots, you need to feed them one so they can process it. They aren't engaging enough, and can be super boring because they're just text. Plus, there's no guarantee that the AI will stay consistent, their personalities might change.

Meanwhile, otome games are incredibly complex; their plots, LIs, and endings are thoroughly developed. Packed with CGs, soundtracks, videos, and other features, making them far more engaging than AI chats.
