Would you rather have a terrible plot with amazing chemistry or an amazing plot with zero chemistry?

Would you rather play an otome game with an incredibly well-written story, interesting characters, and amazing plot twists, but absolutely ZERO romantic chemistry between the heroine and the LIs?

OR

A game with a completely ridiculous plot, questionable writing, and a story that barely makes sense, but the romantic chemistry is SO good that you can't stop playing? 💀

Personally, I feel like chemistry can carry a lot, but there's definitely a limit to how much bad writing I can tolerate...

Which one would you choose?

Team chemistry all the way! (〃▽〃) A nonsensical plot is whatever as long as the dynamic between the leads is electric !

I'd also prefer chemistry! Although the plot is important, for me romance is more important in otome games. If the chemistry is bad then I'd probably ending up feeling disappointed and wondered if I actually played an otome game lol. That's why I'm more ok with the plot being bad or taking a backseat if it means the chemistry between the MC and the LIs is amazing.

Oof, that's hard, but I'll have to go for the story. Although I tend to play otomes for the romance, I think I would be more motivated to finish a game for the story than just relying on the chemistry.

This kind of reminds me of "would you want unlimited video games but no video games?" Lol

I guess I'd have to chose legendary romance with a shitty plot. If the chemistry is good enough, it'll probably balance out the horrible story telling. Thought you are right, if the plot is tooo wild then maybe not😙

I think when characters have great chemistry, you end up loving them even if the story is mediocre—so you keep playing while complaining about the plot. On the flip side, if the chemistry is weak but the story is good, you don't really grow any attachment to the characters, which actually makes you drop the game halfway through.

l chose terrible plot with amazing chemistry , without chemistry it will looks like a Mystery & Deduction Games

absolutely, i'd choose chemistry. since it's an otome game, it would feel pointless if the mc and the lis had zero romantic chemistry (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)

I'm more character > plot person because I need to be invested in the characters. Lack of overt romance like takuyo's titles are fine for me but lack of chemistry is not gonna make me invested

This is a bit hard for me to decide😓 I usually care more about the story and can let go of things like romantic feels, but thinking about it more I feel like if the interactions between characters are bad then just having a good plot probably wouldn't be enough to draw me in either, because I'm at least somewhat there for that little bit of romantic interaction.

True true!! I feel like even the most amazing storyline can't make up for a lack of chemistry between the MC and the LIs. At the end of the day, I'm playing an otome game for the romance, not just the plot 💯. I'd rather have a ridiculous storyline with romance that actually makes me feel something! Cupid Parasite immediately comes to mind LOL. The storyline gets so ridiculous at times, but the chemistry between the MC and the LIs makes it work!

That's a really good point! I feel like even if a game has an amazing plot, it's hard to get emotionally invested if the characters don't have much chemistry 😭 I think the best otome games are the ones where the romance feels like a natural part of the story rather than something that's just thrown in.

I 100% prefer a good plot; even if the chemistry isn't great, the story will at least have left me satisfied—though it's always a plus to have a bit of both.

I like games full of romantic plotlines. Firstly, the art style should be beautiful, and secondly, the plot should mainly focus on emotions. I would love to play.

I think that if I hadn't played *Crazy Chain* this year, I might have said that a terrible plot can be offset by good chemistry—but no, a good plot definitely matters. It matters a great deal to me because, after all, if a route is very long, chemistry alone isn't enough to sustain it. A case in point is Rex from *Crazy Chain*; he was absolutely charming, but his route just doesn't do him justice.

I play these games for romance, but if the story is bad i don't think even good chemistry and romance would be able to carry it for me.

I rather have an amazing plot with no chemistry. I think this is due to me having experience a lot of bad plot and not finding a good series. A lot of the new stuff these days are boring now, because it is either new plot same seiyuu or different seiyuu same plot. There's no variety like how when everything first started.

It's a pretty difficult question, but I'll choose the plot. First of all, the plot has to be interesting so that it becomes curious about the next story and the characters.

I'd definitely go with option 2! I think romantic chemistry is one of the core elements of an otome game. No matter how good the story is, if there's no romantic chemistry between the MC and the LIs, I feel like it would end up feeling more like a regular visual novel than an otome game.

amazing chemistry, hands down!! 😭💕 even if the plot is a complete mess, i'll happily keep playing if the characters have incredible chemistry and make me feel things. but no chemistry between the leads? that's a dealbreaker for me 👀
