I just played a demo of an otome game, and I realized that I kind of struggle with dialogue options 😅 I never know whether I should pick the answer that's closest to what I would personally say or play strategically so I can pursue everyone, lol.

When I choose based on what I would actually say, I worry that I might miss out on certain routes or end up with a bad ending (speaking from experience xD)

So, I'd love to know how you guys approach dialogue choices! Do you usually go with your gut and pick the answers that feel most natural to you, or do you play strategically to get the routes and endings you want? How do you handle this dilemma? 🤔

Although I, like you, am afraid of missing CG or other routes, I will prioritize choosing the option I am most curious about. After satisfying my curiosity, if my choice causes me to miss a route, I will play through a second time for full collection. During the second playthrough, I might discover different details, which is also nice, so I am the go-with-the-flow type.

I picked personal, but my toxic trait is that i think whatever personal decisions I make are also the most strategic and correct 🤣 because I am most definitely a logical person 100% of the time and so the correct decision is also an accurate representation of my personal self and what I would actually do 😻

I used to go with my gut, but after getting punished for choosing what seemed like a perfectly reasonable answer, I've learned not to trust myself anymore 😭 Sometimes the choices are SO misleading too!! Like, how was I supposed to know that being nice to someone would somehow lower their affection?!

Personal.
I play blind and pick the answers I like best and see where those lead me to.

i always go personal first to see who i end up with or what ending i might get! then, strategic method after i finished that route to get a diff love interest, and maybe personal throughout that.

I'm strategic, always using a guide and following recommended route orders! I prioritise story telling > character/fan-services, so I'd like to have the best reading experience possible by playing the game as the writers possibly intended it as: the gradual character progression, the slow unveiling of the main story, etc.. Also, I'm not sure if this is uncommon or not, but I always play the bad endings first, I'd like the story not to leave a bitter taste, haha.

I tend to go with what I would personally choose or the option I want to see the outcome of most. I like to see which love interest and what ending I naturally get for a first playthrough, but subsequent playthroughs I do try to strategize to get a specific route. I like to see all possible routes, so I'm not stressed about what order I see things in and try not to use guides unless I really need one.

I play strategically! I'm more about treating them like a real person and taking their interests and dislikes seriously. It's fun playing otome that way! And since I'm treating them like a person it feels like I'm having an actual conversation with them XD.

Also by playing strategically based on what the LI wants u to answer, you'll be able to gradually understand the relationship dynamic between the mc and the LI's, it makes their romance all the more justified.

Always personal when starting the game to see who i end up with but as soon as i get into a route i change to strategic so i can give the LI the happiest ending ever🫡

I like seeing where my natural answers lead me and which LI I end up with. After that, I'll play more strategically (or use a guide) to unlock the other routes and endings I want.

Yeah, same here hahah didn't unlock any route once and died xD might just be me though, who is this bad at playing otome games😭

Strategic all the way, I wanna secure my route and endings properly hahah
But I would make personal choices if I know the choices isn't important or route-altering. Like flavor choices and stuff 🤔

I don't like bad endings, so I follow a guide whenever one is available.
However, I always decide which option I would personally choose before checking the guide to make my final selection.
Even though I love otome games, I often end up making the wrong choices—which is why I rely on guides.

It depends on how I feel, but I lean more on personal style of playing and just choose what I want..And I tend to go blind even with puzzles, like I also tried following guides before but I just get more confused.. 😅😅

Same here with the wrong choices 😣 I once followed a guide and still managed to get a bad ending 😀

At first, I usually follow my intuition and choose the options that feel right to me. On subsequent playthroughs, I make choices with the goal of getting better endings. However, if the game gets too complicated, I sometimes end up checking walkthrough guides.

I prefer to play without relying on guides as much as possible, but sometimes being loyal to just one character isn't enough to get the best ending. And if there are hidden routes or secret endings, I feel like I'm missing out if I don't look them up!

I usually follow strategic choices when playing games, which can prevent me from heading towards bad endings or missing certain routes or endings. This way, all the CG and endings can be collected at once.

I prefer to do things my way and usually try to get the worst ending first and slowly work my way up to the best ending so that I can finish the route on a happy note.
