To me, the core of Otome is the bond between the heroine and the guys. While I enjoy watching the male leads bickering or being funny with each other.
I still believe the two genres shouldn't be mixed together.

Oh, I have a lot to say about this because I'm also FTM. So the same people who scream about inclusivity—whether it be wanting a male MC or BL between LIs—suddenly are quiet when it involves actual inclusivity. There is almost always guaranteed to be a malicious comment on any BL works involving cuntboy even if it's a 100% fantasy version and not having any other aspects to tie it to real FTM.. People just want to bash together their little dolls and have a "sword" fight. I even feel this way about some amare games. Slightly off-topic, but there was a doujin circle on DLsite called がるまにオリジナル (乙女) that added male-male contact in one of their audio works. It made me feel completely disgusted. A work aimed at a female audience — and they put BL in it. If they really want to write BL, they should start a new series, not turn characters with a normal orientation into having guy-on-guy contact in a sequel. That's just a betrayal of the listeners.
