Yes, if you have high enough version of firmware and Athmospere. I think nxbrew has the info about what FW you need.
I was able to run things on lower FW, but it's not always the case. (also always update Cfw before OFW)

I reccomend reading first reputable guides (gentry, switch.hacks, gbatemp) before going with the video. They are often outdated and sometimes even wrong. Also if you use themes, you must uninstall all of them before updating Atmosphere, otherwise it will crash and create unnecessary headache...

The owner did a purge of inactive members is all. You just need to request access and you should be let back in. Can do it on the subreddit or the Discord server.

Side note to anyone reading though: The purge for this sub was done because someone has repeatedly shared links to the sub despite being asked not to. Reddit is really cracking down on these communities, but Hoodie continues on despite the risk and hassle. They're one of the only bigger uploaders who cares to share otome titles, and they only share the download links when posting here, not the sub. Please do the same.
Edit: This is the reasoning given by them, which implies that they don't want the subreddit linked. I realize people have done it before, I'm just asking that it not be done now given how risky it is. Download links can be swapped easily, but not the list of what's available on the subreddit. Links to the sub now won't work if you're not in, anyway.

It feels kind of... inconsistent. This is not really criticism, I'm still in the sub and I don't intend to repost anything. But, the sub has inevitably been mentioned in a lot of Switch games thread already. For members who are affected by the purge, I think it's better to clear things up if there's a policy they want people to follow (in case anyone's talking to the owner, maybe they can get some clarification?) so "misconducts" would stop happening in the future.

Maybe the sub changing its own rules after certain famous switch roms site got nuked by FBI? i don't know. I also still remember back then when BYAKKO is requested by someone i also shared the sub link at that time in this post https://www.anime-sharing.com/threa...kko-shijin-butai-enrenki.1698896/post-7063632 you can look down till the end for the rest discussions. Nevertheless i also hope for clarification too maybe? though i wasn't hoping too much since i realized i've been getting purged too last week on reddit(i don't follow the sub-discord) sub, also don't want to dare myself to re-accessing it but idk maybe i try it later? If it isn't too much maybe relying on anime-sharing for the time being since some user here been kindly mirroring stuff from the sub for those who can't access.
Thanks for giving a detailed explanation. So what i expected is true after all. I hope people who joined the sub noticed and read thoroughly the new rules.

I read this thread, got curious and did some digging around.
The issue MIGHT have stemmed from another sub - in which the owner has been actively promoting their sub. The thing is, that other sub is public. It CAN be found with Google searches, and the more people post in there, make comments and upvotes etc. the more attraction it will gain.
I don't know the why and how it happened because I didn't follow it from the beginning, anyway many posts are from otome gamers. Such as these OVER REQUIEMZ, 7'Scarlet, DesperaDrops and Illusion of Itehari posts. Plus this post where both the private sub and Discord links are out in the open. Other posts with most activities are about Pokemon scarlet (post 1 and post 2)
Reading the comments under Itehari, the owner seems to have beef with some people. If these people are really doing what they claim they're doing, that means they've been reporting both the sub and Discord server. It's a consequence of dangling a donation form in front of their nose and triggering those who think piracy should be free.
Adding fuel to the fire are the Pokemon posts. Needless to say, having a big franchise name provides unnecessary exposure.
Even if the owner doesn't attach a direct link to their sub in new public comments, a glance at the donation form is all it takes to know the private sub's address. That is not much different from directly advertising it
Still, I could be wrong. Unless the owner themselves give details, we can't know where the issue comes from. Best case scenario is nothing will come out of the reports. But making a group for illegal piracy content on a controlled platform like Reddit or Discord is risky to begin with, you're at the mercy of those platforms' policies. The Reddit admins can sneeze one day and the entire sub will be gone.
Lastly, I'm not sure whether those people requesting otome games came from Anime-sharing, but those requests should be stopped. The latest one was just 1 month ago. They accomplish nothing other than drawing more attention. Aside from rare cases - that are graciously covered by AS co-purchase group, most games get dumped sooner or later anyway.

Well said. To be honest, most issues lies in miscommunication. As I have written above, I have also shared the links to their sub, without thinking about possible consequences. Furthermore, closing sub behind donation form should be personal choice and not be challenged. We are pirating community after all and nothing should be taken as granted. To be said, if one knew why it happened, maybe the understanding would be higher.
I disagree partly with the last part about requests. Maybe I am wrong, but since otome games are quite niche, there is non zero chance they won't get uploaded by bigger platform. Having more ppl requesting those games is benefitial since imo, since it shows there is non trivial demand for them. Although it should be given it would be done in the most civilized way possible with longevity of the sub/site in mind.

Even the clearly anticipated games like OVER REQUIEMZ or 9RIP took weeks to be dumped. Sites like ziperto, nxbrew all upload from scene releases, they don't pay for games themselves. If there's no scene release for a game, it will never get uploaded on the internet unless some benevolent person in a niche community (like ours) does it.It's not just Switch games, even PC otome games are ignored. There's been so many games out yet the only scene release I'm aware of recently is Demonheart: The Cursed Trial.
The only one "scene" we can influence, I suppose, is Hoodie's Switch releases that are marked as "KTHNX". Even then, their releases (and budget) are spread out between other genres of games too. And in my opinion, making request posts create a cycle of attracting more users from search results > they ask how to join > Hoodie advertises the sub and donation form > people be like "why do I have to pay for piracy?!" > might or might not create more arguments. We can donate to help them, but at that point might as well donate to AS instead.
It is worrisome because iirc Nintendo has taken a moderator of another Switch piracy sub to court. I don't know what exactly happened in that sub, but putting direct links to Switch game downloads probably won't make Nintendo happy... Most of the subreddits and discords I'm in - even ones about piracy - avoid doing that.
Anyway this is just my humble thought. I'm also sleepy so maybe I'm not thinking thoroughly
Of course, everyone's free to request what they want, personally I don't feel it's a good idea to do it in a public space. But Hoodie doesn't accept requests in the private sub for some reason, yet responds to requests in the public sub? Idk, not that I've personally talked to them so I'm not really sure about the rules.

I still think if we increase demand for otome games, the supply may follow. Both in pirating and legit buying the games.
PC games are a sad story with possibly brighter side. If it is digital version, it is often much cheaper than console ones. But you have to take care of drm stuff and keep in mind OS compatibility. That's sizeable incentive to just buy the game and not bother (esp. if it is easily accessible). Console VNs on other hand...

They steal. From other (private or semi-public) communities. IGG, F95 and many sites on the internet do the same. A SMALL percentage of their stuff are bought by admins or members, and I mean actual small, 1 out of 1000 small, but most are files taken from elsewhere.
Those files don't count as scene releases that I was talking about above, because they're not. They're simply from individuals who share with others, even Hoodie's KTHNX releases (strictly speaking in the traditional sense) cannot be called "scene", at best they're P2P but I don't want to get technical.
Anyway, IGG's reputation isn't on the ground, it's in hell (see pics - I will not name the specific place this came from)
A lot of people in smaller communities hate having their files stolen. Some will continue sharing out of love for their own community, meanwhile some will get angry, stop sharing and leave (I have met such people, it's quite sad.) It's all a matter of priorities and perspective.
No matter what, both sides are still pirates. Laws and self-written rules don't protect their files.
Looking at the bigger picture, we are not immortals. Neither are the forums we're in. If we or the forums shut down one day, what happens to the files that are chained inside? Without any way to obtain them, they will become lost media forever.
Yet both sides will continue to oppose each other. Even within Anime-sharing, you can find such discussions.
I still have the links saved from when I discussed this topic with my friends before lmao. The drama CD section is especially heated because it's even more niche than games.

Basically many files you and I download are "leaked" from other places one way or another. Scene releases are also leaked lol. People often mistaken that scene groups share for the "public". They don't. They are not public service workers. They operate in private servers and dislike having their files leaked too. That's also why it's hard for us to obtain their files in their original format: the multiple rar archives with their group name (and proof) attached - like what Hoodie posts. But leaks still happen. Either way our voices hardly matter to them.
The fact remains that scenes rarely care about josei-muke or otome products. If you see files on public sites, they're "stolen" from other smaller, more closed places. And they're still rare. A game with an English version has a higher chance of being shared, but what if you prefer the original Japanese version (because you're learning a new language, because the translation is bad etc) Tough luck finding them :/
