Well, if you the works of Maeda-sensei know: Then are at start of the animes/LNs/VNs usual with a lot happy times attached, but about from the second half begin the dark and heavy moments...

Well, I don't follow new anime announcements much, so as far as I know most everything is from light novels or manga these days (with a few VNs here and there). The last I can even remember being original was Angel Beats, and that tells you how little I keep track.

I'd say that I'm also the kind that prefers lighter fare, which is why I've avoided watching some of the gory, sad stuff the industry has released these past few seasons. I love my bad endings only in eroge, for obvious reasons (and mostly when that's not the true route).
