So far, I have loved the The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi and Evangelion 2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE. There are more but I think those are recent enough ones

and also makoto shinkai's work such as: 5 cm per second, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, Voice of a Distant Star.
i m looking forward to see "Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below"

Best anime movie... thats a tough question. Not counting movies with series associated with them, Id have to say something like Summer Wars. If I include movies that are related to shows, Unlimited Blade Works would be somewhere near the top.

Summer Wars - good story, good action, non-standard artwork (for at least parts) and overall great.

Honorable mention to everything Ghibli and NGE: Rebuild.
