Which translator do YOU use? 👀

I used AGTH years ago too. Then there was a long hiatus of me not playing any VNs and when I came back Textractor was a thing so I mainly used that. For a few games I used VNR too. Now I just use Luna

Where I am, there is a translator that captures and translates text on the screen, so I am using that. Lately, it seems like Luna is being used quite a bit as well.

I believe every language has its own linguistic culture, so I prefer to read the Japanese text not using any translator. (but my English is disaster. Google translator help me a lot lol )

In particular, the way characters speak and the words they use can reveal their personality traits. For example, they might use keigo, or a mix of keigo and casual speech. So I think reading the original text makes it easier to understand the characterisation.Sometimes relying on translator can leave you unsure of what the character is actually talking about because of the culture barrier. (It seems that some translators consisting AI assistance are doing an excellent job; those sort of issue are don't happen frequently nowadays.)

If there are any unfamiliar words or phrases, I'll simply Google them to find out what they mean. Then I'll look at some articles or sns to see how Japanese people use these words in different contexts.

Luna Translator! I wonder why Bing sometimes censors swear words randomly, for no reason at all when the original text is uncensored.

I think it detects what bring me the most enjoyment and wants to please me.

I mostly use Textractor and Luna translations! I tried learning Japanese on my own so I could play games without translation tools, but it wasn't easy at all. Huge respect to everyone who managed to master Japanese through self-study. I'm really impressed!

I'm trying to learn japanese with otome for the last year so I just use yomitan and ocr extraction tool to look up stuff. If I still dont understand a line after looking up all the words and grammar I'll check what google translate says and move on

Discovering LunaTranslator has completely changed my otome gaming life.

Before, I used a program called Textractor.

Textractor is good too, but I think I use LunaTranslator much more now.

I use LunaTranslator. It can hook into nearly all the games I've tried, and thanks to it, most of the games I've been playing recently have been Japanese-only titles.

I used to use ITHVNR and later Textractor years ago, but nowadays I use LunaTranslator. Switching to LunaTranslator really made me realize how far translation technology has come.

I use LunaTranslator and LLM. I used Textractor and Agent in the past but they don't work on the wide range of games that LunaTranslator does. It's so much better and I'm glad I switched to it. It's amazing to see much these tools have advanced, thanks to them I can play and learn Japanese :giggle:

I honestly didn't even know ppl were using translators..i use my brain and the Japanese i learnt….even if sometimes i struggle with some kanjis
