When a new fd has released do you go play fd first or replay the first game again

I usually just check CGs of the main game and then play FD. I do not mind not remembering some details from the first game because usually during the playing the FD, I would be reminded of main game's events

If it's been a few years, I'll probably replay the first game first because I'll have forgotten everything by then 😭 I will need a refresher before starting the FD

I'll just play FD. Since I'm playing FD, it means I'm actually pretty fond of this series, and I'll probably remember some of the story.

Like others, I go straight to the FD. I admit that usually I vaguely remember the plot the first game, but I am there for the characters so it's all ok. If there are plot points I forget, I like to read reviews to help me freshen up my knowledge.

I always feel like I need to replay the first game because my memory is pretty bad but once i boot it up it turns out I actually do remember most of it and then it feels pointless to go through it all again when i could be enjoying the new stuff instead

Depends on how long ago I played the original game and also how much the fandisk is asking from my bird brain to remember details from the first game XD

I'll start by playing the FD as it is, and if there are too many things I can't remember, I'll go back and replay the main game partway through, then return to the FD.

I'm not really the type to play games as soon as they come out (not just otome, but games in general).
So usually when I play a game, the fandisc has already come out a long time ago. And I get to just play them in succession (Like I'm doing now with Amnesia Later x Crowd).

Tbh I think I would just look up a summary of the plot and each route rather than going through the whole game again. I do that when I pick back up a game I haven't played in a while.

I need to replay the first game. I don't have a good memory and will definitely forget everything, especially if the fd is released two or three years after the first game. My head is already filled with other otome games, so replaying the first game will help me understand the FD more.

I have finite time so I would rather look through my digital notes and at the CGs I've saved rather than replay the entire game if I plan to play the FD lol

I just play the fd. If I've forgotten some plot points of the first game I just look up somebody's review online to refresh my memory.

(I do like and appreciate when a fd has a built-in refresher for the first game!)

It depends on how long it was that I played the first game. If my memory of the first game is starting to get a bit blurry, I replay it.

Normally, I'll just start playing FD right away. Only if I've almost completely forgotten the storyline of this game will I begin from the beginning.

I go straight to the FD. Usually, I remember the main plot of the original, and for the parts I forget, I'll just skim through CGs or a guide to jog my memory.

I tend to backlog games so badly that for most games with fandiscs, I don't even start playing until the FD is already out. 😂 So I don't really have much of a problem with continuity.

There are some games, though, where I leave them for so long that I completely forget what happened. In those cases, I just go, "Whatever, I'll deal with it." I play the FD anyway and slowly piece the memories back together as I go.

Or I'll just ask an AI for spoilers, like, "Wait, what was this character's route about again?"

I've also noticed that some games actually give you a brief recap of the main game's story, which is really helpful.

I tend to do the FD first because my thirst for new content is too strong, then I realize I don't remember shit about the base game, so I go back and replay it and then replay the FD.

Is it unnecessarily convoluted? Yes.

Play fd , because playing one otome game take so much time for me (。ノω\。) , if i forget about main game , i may do quick read for things i want to remember

I start by playing the FD. After all, if I like a title enough to buy the FD, I surely remember everything about it. Occasionally, I might have forgotten a detail or two, but taking the time to recall those things is enjoyable in itself :giggle:

I usually go straight to the FD. Even if I've forgotten some parts of the main game, I'll just quickly refresh my memory on those parts before playing it. Ideally, I'd like to play the FD while I'm still excited about the main game, right after finishing it.
