What VN genres have you read that aren't focused on romance?

Like a lot of people in this thread I also love mystery! And thriller. I really should look into some horror things too. I like stories that keep you on your toes.

Mystery and/horror visual novels for me! A lot of the Spike Chunsoft visual novels! I loved the Zero Escape series and AI: Somnium Files!

Urban Myth Dissolution Center came out last year and I enjoyed it (and the promotional oneshot they had, which is how I found out about the game!)

The pv was so attention catching! I was shocked at how low the view count was at. The launch trailer view count is still only at 7 thousand

I have to shout out The House in Fata Morgana, which is a gothic horror, and I loveee everything about that game. I love how well-written the story is, and every "door" makes you feel a vast range of emotions.!! Other than that, I enjoy mystery/detective games such as the entire ace attorney franchise, Strange horticulture, Return of the Obra dinn, and the case of the golden idol.

Ace Attorney! Love it. Oh, and I'm a huge fan of Lone Wolf Saga... I have also a friend of mine writing a VN, mystery one, no romance. Seems live Disco Elysium in a way, but just text.
