What do you think about mini-games in otome?

I love minigames in otome games. My first experience with this kind of feature was also in my very first otome game, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side for the PS2. I find them really relaxing and a great way to pass the time. In that particular game, there's a pillow fight minigame, and unlocking the characters' special abilities is incredibly fun.

No me molestan, pero lo que sí importa es la calidad y la creatividad con la que están hechas. (Algunas parecen hechas a toda prisa, jaja).

I personally love mini-games in between stories. Jack Jeanne is one of them, and as a rhythm game enthusiast, it's such a breath of fresh air for games to incorporate different gameplay into otome games

However, stages that are locked behind mini-games, like in mobile games such as Obey Me! and The Hell Is Bad, just break the flow of the story, and honestly, they're too repetitive for my liking. If the mini-game makes sense within the story's plotline, ahem, Jack Jeanne, then it becomes one of my favs .!

I like them and dislike at the same time, I'm yet to come across a difficult mini game in otome (If anyone knows a challenging one please tell me), but for example the ones in Amnesia Memories are quite easy and I only played them to get the 100% in achievements on steam since the minigames are available outside the plot.

I think they are cool to play if we get an achievement or some extras (if not integrated to the plot) but if not, I don't miss them.

But if we are talking those in between gameplay mini games such as the "Sherlock" mini game inside Slow Damage (not an otome but the best example that comes to mind) then I love it for sure since it's integrated into the plot and storyline and it's engaging as well since you need to do extra things to make it work (mostly).

Good and fun, but if filled with aesthetics and just relaxing, funny
I'm curious to play it poorly on purpose and listen to how the character reacts to it :D

There seem to be a lot of positive people here. I actually really dislike it. I'm not good at even simple mini-games, so 😂 I just want to read the stories, too..

I don't mind mini-games, but the story will always come first for me. If they're simple and well integrated into the game, they can make long reading sessions feel less monotonous.
That said, when I'm completely hooked on the plot, I just want to keep reading. If a mini-game starts feeling like a chore or blocks my progress, I'd much rather have the option to skip it and get back to the story.

I honestly don't like the mini-games that come with otome games. If you're playing multiple routes, they just become a hassle. Some games even tie CG rewards to those mini-games — which is just... rough for completionists like me.

I'd much rather just immerse myself in the reading and get lost in the story. If a mini-game suddenly pops up while I'm reading, it really frustrates me — it just pulls me right out of the experience.

If I wanted to play mini-games, why wouldn't I just go play actual mini-games?

I'm also not a fan of stat-raising. That's also a nightmare for multiple playthroughs. Having to constantly check my numbers to make sure I'm not messing up my route is just pure torture.

They can be fun...
... but they're usually pretty poorly made and mostly just annoy me.
The worst part is when they're very repetitive and you can't skip them. For example, I like rhythm games, but only the simple ones, because I have a terrible sense of rhythm :(

I like them in theory, but majority of them are too easy for me and feel like a waste of time.
My favourite is Hana Awase's card game, though.
