What do you think about handsome male characters you can’t date?

I'm really disappointed about that.
I hope we can go on a date in the fan disc.

Of course, I'd LOVE if they could be an actual love interest, but sometimes, they're *just* hot, not interesting.

I'm also okay with not having every baddie as a love interest if the main love interest are all unique and engaging in their own way.

My issue lies in where the side character is MUCH more amusing, flirty (in the good way) AND actually has a dynamic fleshed out character design and background. Then I am in second-lead pining for life. (⁠っ⁠˘⁠з⁠(⁠˘⁠⌣⁠˘⁠ ⁠)

I love a good comic relief and it's so sad because games love to make them so undateable. I want you, comic relief break!! (⁠ ⁠･ั⁠﹏⁠･ั⁠)

FD baddies is....okay...I don't LOVE the practice of baiting but there can be redemption. ╮⁠(⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)⁠╭
 
To be honest, it's a bit of a tease! 😅
When I see a stunning male character design but find out he's not dateable, my first reaction is usually disappointment
"Why would you create someone this handsome if you're not going to let me romance him?!"

Kaina in particular is someone I am grieving, but I understand why a route with him would be a hard ground to tread, even if it were just brief or ambiguous. Like for most of the handsome non-dateables, I will just yearn 😭. Who knows, maybe the demand would be really good someday. I wished really hard for Jaehyun Kim in Mystic Messenger, and we got him so... Hope unconsciously but never actively seek it HAHA.

SO IT WASNT JUST ME. After playing catharsis I actually felt the same for Kanan (which is so shocking to me)

Every time I come across a super handsome side character that's not romanceable, I can't help but sigh and think, "If we can't date him, then why did they have to make him so hot?" :lapi_broken:
 
I feel disappointed every time that happens. It is even more disappointing if there is no route for them, even in the fan disc.
 
i don't like them they make us suffer :( Even in fds we don't always get them romanceable 💔
 
This character is totally my type, so it's a bit disappointing that I can't pursue a romance with them. I often find myself imagining how great it would have been if there had been a route for this character while I'm playing. Still, I feel like even that sense of disappointment ends up becoming part of my affection for the game. I think that even if not every character is a romance option, that sense of distance can sometimes make them feel even more special.
 
hope that in the Fan Disc, we can see him become romanceable, for example Birushana Senki. Even if not fully romanceable, I hope they can release a personal route like in Collar Malice Fan Disc. By the way, there's actually a female supporting character I especially want to romance. I played MoshiKami. I felt so so about the male leads, but I super want to romance the female supporting character. Because most Japanese otome games don't do yuri, and I even think if she were gender swapped into a male character and became a male lead route, she would be more interesting than the other male leads.(；´д｀)ゞ

It's honestly so painful. Being able to see them but never being able to 'reach' them... I'm crying my heart out inside

I usually find myself more interested in the main love interest, so I haven't personally had that experience yet.
However, I do feel sorry for the players who end up liking those characters.
It makes me wonder why their character designs are so detailed if they aren't romanceable in the first place.
 
If handsome, why undateable? They like torturing us with those characters 🤣
 
Sometimes they make me wonder, "Why aren't they romanceable?" lol
So whenever that happens, I end up hoping they'll become a route in a fan disc someday.
At the same time, I also think part of their charm comes from not being a romance option.

It's dissapointing, especially if they are my type of character (personality, looks-wise). But if there's a good reason for why they aren't romanceable, I'd understand. Otherwise, I'd just think they're being unfair lol
 
Honestly, sometimes the side characters are way more attractive than the actual love interests 😭 It always hurts a little when you realize they're not dateable lol. But I guess it also makes the world feel more alive.
 
I'll be really disappointed. I find people on social media who share my thoughts and look for fan art of that character to satisfy myself.
 
I think sometimes side characters are made more attractive on purpose? Anyway, I can't stand it if I'm being honest. There were a good number of side characters I liked even more than the actual LIs themselves in otome.
