What do you think about faceless MC ?

That's so strange. All the game characters I play have eyes. It looks really weird that the protagonist doesn't have eyes. If there was an option to turn off the character portrait, I would definitely do so.

I personally dislike them as I much prefer MCs with strong personalities and voiced, I never really care about self-insert or anything, so faceless ones are useless to me as it doesn't help with the immersion atall, quite the opposite actually, especially ones that are bald and grey, they just look funny and out of place lol.

I understand why they do this—so players can imagine themselves in the protagonist's shoes. But for me personally, it's a terrible solution. I get bored reading about a faceless protagonist who not only lacks a face, but also a personality. I don't know about others, but I find it much easier to connect with a character who has their own history, personality, appearance, and habits—both good and bad. For me, MC has to be engaging.

I'm not really into self-inserting anymore, so faceless MC's just creep me out. I tend to play otomes nowadays with a mindset of "this guy is perfect for MC!" vs "this guy would be perfect for ME!" and when the MC is essentially blank I get uncomfortable. I like to pretend I'm just watching two people fall in love, but its hard when one of the "people" has the personality of paper. This is exactly why I dropped Sympathy Kiss and reaaaaally don't want to return to it. I need actual dialogue options!! At least!! Not just emojis indicating mood haha

MCs and even NPCs without faces are so offputting 😭 I don't care if you give them stickman faces but give them something!

I prefer characters with faces. That way, I can focus more on building the world.

honestly i really dont like faceless mcs i much prefer when the protagonist actually has a visible sprite on screen it makes the interactions feel more natural and immersive for me

Kissing scenes look gross when the MC is faceless, and I perceive the situation as partially lacking in vibes when a tough and sophisticated MC hasn't got any visual representation. Otherwise, it's OK having both versions

I do not like MCs like those. I understand the goal involves acting as the character but this fails to work for me. I connect better when I see the appearance of the character. I hate protagonists lacking personality or acting naive.

I definitely prefer MCs with a face. When I first started playing otome games I was ok with it, but now I'm not a fan of it. I know they do that so players can self insert and people who self insert likes it, but I don't self insert so I want to see the expressions of the MC. It just looks awkward to me when you can't see the MC's face in the cg, especially during emotional and crucial moments in the game.

I prefer MC with face/eyes. I'd buy a game just because I find the MC cute even if I'm not interested in any of the LIs. I don't self-insert.

It's odd how the LIs would comment that the MC's eyes are pretty and then the CG would show the MC eyeless.

I'm fine with faceless MC if it makes sense for her not to, like if her body was literally just a tooth for example (though unfortunately that one isn't an actual game).

Mystic Messenger was one of the first otome-adjacent games I played and really freaked me out that the MC was faceless 😭 😭. It was giving slenderman and to this day I rather dislike self-inserts, I much rather have a generic MC.

Absolutely not it looks scary :forsaken:

Although I personally prefer just having the MC be a character of their own, so I'm biased against self inserts to begin with..to be fair...

Ahm ahm 10-11 years ago, i wouldn't really care much about it🤣 but nowadays i wouldn't like it , but i may force myself to play the game if the story or male leads were worth it

The first time I saw a faceless MC was in Mystic Messenger. At the time, I was upset that the MC looked that way. And I'm still against MCs looking like that. I understand that it makes easier for people to relate to her, but I don't like it.

I don't really mind if the mc is faceless but if i had to choose i prefer they have a face it really adds so much personality and depth to the game.

I prefer them to have a face with eyes. No eyes is so weird to me. It's just uncomfortable to look at in CGs, because here's this hot man candy, looking all sweet at the MC or whatever, and it's someone with no face.
its creepy then all the guys fall for her faceless looks
Made me laugh, but you're so right!

I'd rather have no CGs with us in it and just put the love interests' face up close. To me, that's better. I don't wanna see a woman that's unsimilar to me in CGs when I spent my time to seduce my man only for him to hug a stranger. Yes, I'm petty and jealous this way, I know.

ive been playing voltage games for as far as i can remember lol, i hate it. i much prefer my mcs to be in cgs and be gorgeous as well!

Personally I prefer a faced Mc but im not gonna drop a vn if they have a faceless Mc. Faceless mc's take me out of the story most of the time just very jarring to look at.

I lowkey dislike it. When I was younger it didn't matter but now it feels soulless to me. Its too uncanny sometimes.
