So what do you think about faceless MC on CG? Do you like , dislike or don't care?
I never liked faceless MC without eyes.
But recently i saw many vn have grey , bald mc and some don't have even eyes, nose, lips .
It ruins the atmosphere for me. Looks scary and fun sometimes.
A romantic moment turns into a comedy. LI hugs and kiss mannequin .

I never minded it much; back when I started playing otome games, quite a few companies released faceless protagonists. Nowadays, it's mostly indie games that do that. Today, a protagonist having a face is more appealing than not having one. But I agree that it's kind of creepy sometimes and ruins the atmosphere of the scene.

I feel like old otome games often had character portraits or still images without any facial expressions.
Nowadays, it feels strange if the characters don't have faces.
When you can see their expressions, you can empathize with them and enjoy the game more.

Honestly it's the #1 thing that breaks the immersion for me. I like MCs with a strong personality, and I love it when they're voiced, although I get why that might not be other people's cup of tea. IMO it's really hard to make 100% self-insert MCs, because it's simply impossible to make a vital character so blank that it can fit just everyone's personality. So faceless MCs just feel like a half-baked attempt to me, and it doesn't help at all with self-inserting (not to mention most faceless MCs I've seen have long brown hair so that's incorrect from the get-go).

I personally prefer a named, voiced and faced protagonist as I don't like self inserts unless it's an open personality with your own choices effecting the personality completely. If they are faceless/self insert but have their own set personality it sort of takes away the "self insert" illusion for me!

I'm a self-inserter so I unironically love the eyeless MCs lmao. Then again, I can self-insert just fine in most MCs. I just use my name, turn off their sprites when given the option and do the same for their voices if they have them, which I actually love most don't.

I prefer mc with noticeable features! It reminds me how Tsukiko from Starry Sky games have the option to have eyes or not and I always pick with eyes. She didn't even have that option in the original PC release of "in [season]" games until the FD

Faceless MCs are so boring, it's just self-insert and 0 character. Though, I guess you can still self-insert even if the MC has a drawn face. Personally, I prefer MCs with character as if I'm reading a story and not just creating(?) one if that makes sense.

After watching the haunting of Hill house I can only think of one thing when it comes to faceless MC.
Lady-In-The-Lake-Bly-Manor.jpg

Haunting memory of a woman who haunts a lake, slowly having her face and memory erased.. physically and metaphysically.

I actually really like faceless MCs! 😌 They let me project myself into the story, which makes the choices feel way more personal. I feel like it also gives the game a bit more immersion, especially in otome or story-heavy VNs, because I can imagine the MC reacting how I would. Of course, it depends on the writing—if the supporting characters are strong and the story is engaging, a faceless MC works perfectly. But if the dialogue is too generic, it can feel a bit hollow °

I don't like faceless MC, if I don't see the face/eyes of a character it tend to become a need to see it so if it isn't a character who mask his face (and we see his face at a moment during the game) then it doesn't interest me (and it just frustate me to see a character without theses features).

I personally love MC's with faces, it always breaks my immersion when a CG has an faceless girl in them. I don't mind it as much when the game wants you to self-insert but, when the game has a heroine with a defined personality and look it just feels so weird.

I dislike it with a passion! To me it looks off in scenes and I would prefer that they made the cgs either fully first person (where you can't see the protagonist at all) or just design a main character to use in drawings. Like I would rather a protagonist be plain (which I also don't really like…) then fully featureless. I play a mix of all VN types with both male and female protagonist and I actually think games where the main character is a man and you romance women are worse offenders of just creating a dude (tm)😂 though a lot of iOS / android games have taken that approach for otome.

The faceless dudes are awful, the cgs look soooo bad in those

Not for me. I used to be okay with it but after some years consuming otoge I notice myself paying attention a bit more to details like NPCs and background and then it start to feel creepy when I notice their face is not all there. I don't mind super generic looking MC but no face or no eyes is just an instant no for me unless their face actually look like that.
