What changes have otome games brought to you or your life?

Ever since I started playing otome games, I've found myself increasingly yearning for and admiring the pure, unwavering affection the LIs have for the heroines. It feels like my standards for my own relationships have gotten higher. Additionally, because there are some absolute favorite LIs I adore, I really want to be able to draw them and create fan art. I've actually been self-studying drawing for a while now.

They really raised my standards for storytelling and emotional depth. Beyond just romance, they gave me a greater appreciation for complex characters, psychological nuance, and the quiet comfort of taking my time to read without feeling rushed by competitive gameplay.

It was the catalyst that led me to study Japanese in earnest, and, on a deeper level, it prompted me to reflect more carefully on the nature of romantic feelings. It's hard to put into words, but I think nothing else quite captures that soft, fluttering sensation in one's heart—something that goes far beyond the simple feeling of just liking someone. 🥰

Otome games help me unwind. I enjoy their nuanced characters and plots, offering a brief break from the stress of real life.

Since playing otome games, I have had very high standards for choosing a spouse in real life. I fantasize about finding a perfect man like the one in the game haha. If I really can't find such a man in real life, I won't get married and plan to spend my whole life with otome games.

It's not exactly that otome games have changed my mindset or who I am in real life, but they have helped me realize—through the choices I make in the game—what kind of men suit my personality.

It completely revived my love for reading and visual storytelling! I've come to appreciate rich character development, choice-based branching paths, and how much music and voice acting elevate the whole experience

It helped shape my morals and standards. Didn't expect I'd be learning my morals from a romance game but here we are. At first it acts as my stress reliever but after growing up I started to realize each story has its own lesson to leave for the audience. Most importantly it taught me to learn how to love myself, I used to be scared of being alone without any partner but yk what I realize that life is good, being without a partner doesn't equate to being alone. You have friends and family and that's what otome has taught me, to cherish my relationships.

It was what made me start studying Japanese.
And I like that I can relieve the stress I get from real life in a safe way. Relieving stress and feeling happy at the same time—awesome!

I see it as an escape route that helps my true personality, which is more feminine, sweet, and tender, to surface. The truth is, in real life I tend to act tougher and not at all feminine. Because of hundreds of things that happened during my childhood, I have this personality in real life so I "won't let anyone or anything walk all over me." But in otome games, I bring out my true personality, being fragile, sweet, or tender, because I feel safe expressing what I feel without holding back. I can feel loved and understood at the same time. "They may be pixels," but to my feelings and heart, they aren't, so it's okay. It makes me very happy; I feel alive, so to speak.
