What appeals to you most about an otome game?

For me it is learn how the way to cherish and understand the character you like or choose. Every character has different personality, so we literally have to adjust and choose to give them the best answer. Otome game actually kinda teach me how to build a good relationship with people irl too. But we should not be a people pleasure, remember we give them the answer what makes them be best, not only just feels good.

For me, it's definitely the characters and their development! I'll admit that character designs are usually what catch my attention first, but what really keeps me invested is watching the characters slowly open up and reveal sides of themselves that you wouldn't expect at first.

Voice acting is also a HUGE factor for me! Sometimes the way a voice actor delivers a single line can make a scene ten times more emotional than it would've been otherwise.

Art and characters. Sorry but if the art is ugly I probably wont play it 😭 and if none of the characters personality + looks interest me im DEFINITELY not playing. I can honestly tolerate poorly written stories as long as the characters themselves have depth and are also my type. Pretty privilege does unfortunately exist in otome land 😆

What draws me to an otome game first is its theme—what story it's trying to tell. Then comes the overall vibe: the music, UI, and CG should all match the theme. That shows the game's tone and how much effort the dev team put in, and it makes the game way more immersive.

You're right about that, and leave it at that. The games are also good because of the character design style. 😓

Art, Characters, and Story. If the art is bad, I just cannot force myself to play it, also if the LIs are ugly/not my type. And without saying, the story is also important because there is just a limit on how much hard carrying an art style can do.

The story, CG(art style), the connection to the characters, and the romantic elements—now that I think about it, they're all important. 😅

Em. I'm a sucker for art, so no matter how bad an otome game is I'll still play it. Then character art comes next. Ugh. It is a bad habit, but I've been like this since high school and can't change it over night.
