Seeing so many people talking about otome games made me so curious! Where should I start?! What game would you recommend? Where to download (or purchase) games? What does all the abbreviations stand for (like Ll)?

I start with Starry☆Sky in Summer.
Since I don't know your preferences, perhaps you could let us know what kind of otome games you like. As a starter, I highly recommend Starry☆Sky if you enjoy having many types of LIs. They split the main LIs into groups of three per game, so it is not overwhelming. Ayakashi Gohan is also a very wholesome option.
If you prefer focusing on one LI, then I recommend Navigatore of the Ruined World. All of the games I mentioned can be found on Anime-Sharing.
LI stands for Love Interest. This refers to the male lead or a character who has a dedicated story route.
