Was there a fantasy world Aa Megami-tensei spin-off with fighting robots?

I'm trying to remember this anime, and it's driving me crazy. If someone could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

It was some character who was very loosely related to the series (a minor character, maybe?) and he got sent to another world, where some students took him under their wings. All I remember was they had a base that was a giant floating island.

I also seem to remember that they were longer episodes, maybe 45 minutes each? Please help me, it's driving me nuts!
