Tragic or Happy Ends in Otome—Which Team Are You On?

I like Happy Ends. After all, otome games are not real life, and when reading novels, I want to feel as happy and joyful as possible.
"Bad Ends" is more of a possibility of an ending. But I have to say, tragedy leaves a deeper impression and makes me feel very sad. And I still can't forget it even after a few years.
But I still prefer a happy ending. It makes me feel more energetic.

I prefer happy ends. If I know a game only has tragic/sad endings I probably won't play it. That has not changed over the years. There have been times when I thought the game's happy ending was not the best ending. I think the biggest tragedy is when a beloved side character sacrifices/loses their life for the main character to reach their happy ending.

Is it selfish of me to say I love both.. I played through ClubSu recently and I think that the incredible sadness I felt in the sad endings are what made the happy endings that much better. But if there are only sad endings, I don't know if I would enjoy it as much. I want a good balance of both!!

I usually play the happy endings first, then go back to complete the bad ends. The first experience is the most memorable, so I prefer to stick with my happy endings, or I'd be devastated. I still play the bad ends because I'm a completionist through and through, and to traumatize my friends by narrating them.

I generally prefer Happy Endings.
However, a "perfect" ending that is too flawless can feel a bit bland or uninspiring to me. For me, the ideal ending is one where "something has been lost, yet through our collective efforts, we still manage to secure a bright future." I'm drawn to that specific type of hard-won happiness.
The above was generated using a translator; I apologize for any lack of clarity in the expression.

非常感谢,我个人英语不太好所以只能用翻译器交流,为了不造成不必要的误会我会在发布中文后在下方附上翻译器的翻译的
Thank you very much! My English isn't very strong, so I have to rely on a translator to communicate. To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, I will post my original Chinese text first, followed by the translation below it.

I believe that's exactly it—only when a happy ending is set against tragedy does it shine its brightest, and only then do players truly treasure it.

There's no such thing as perfect in this world; I, too, love stories of growth born from effort, because they feel real. I'm easily moved by characters who give of themselves for others.

I prefer the endings to be on a happier. note unless the bad ending is done well example Limbo's bad ending from bustfellows that endings it truly soul crushing definitely check it out if you can't see it.

Tragic, mostly because I like games that can't really have a fully happy ending. In lighter games the HEs are usually treated as the "good/true endings," so I prefer those.

Team happy ending all the way, but I do realise life can't be all about happy endings, I'm learning to be okay with not everything turning out to be fine now. Baby steps.

I always adore happy ending as it always leave me feeling satisfied and fulfilled about the story. for tragic endings tho, I dont mind them at all but I would definitely avoid them if possible. Bittersweet endings can be a good balance but will depends on the game/story.

I tend to lean toward the happy ending, because reality is already hard enough. At the very least, in a game, I hope the protagonist can find happiness. Even so, bad endings often leave a deeper impression.

I like good tragedy IF it has happy ending. There was this game that has happy ending and I was like this didn't make sense bcoz that is clearly not the kind of man he is so I assumed oh the writer got lazy, but nah he was just pretending to be sweet and agreeable, and then bam ending. I generally forget otoge after some time until I play it again but this one, always remember this one.

I prefer good endings, but as long as I don't have to replay/repeat tons of content, I think bad endings are a fun addition.

I tend to like happy endings in general, but tragic endings are fine too! But honestly, it really depends on the storyline/the tone of the overall game. I'd prefer to see more tragic or bittersweet endings for historical or war-themed stories, but I'd prefer a happy ending for a modern day otome.

I think I like both? I never focused on what is better I prefer more, I'm the type of player who always does everything, but I don't like endings where the character dies :(
