searching for a cetrain anime/"cartoon"

hello

i am searching for a certrain anime (could have been a cartoon)
i remember watching it as a kid,

the only things i remember:
"male main character."
female (childhood) friend

set in a future distopian world where people live on hovering islands.
the main character travels to those islands on a sort of bike.

released after 1995 and before 2007
it was either broadcaster on jetix or fox-kids

(not sure if it was part of it: but they did say something about the planet having no core anymore, resulting in the floating islands)

this is all i remember.
please give me possible leads to this anime/cartoon

There's a lot of "Floating Island" stuff out there, ie, The Guardian Cycle, Angel Island from Sonic the Hedgehog, Castle in the Sky, and even in Wonder Woman.

it had a more anime feel to it,
so it is not skyland

Sounds a lot like
Last Exile.

last exile is more a sky war theme.

i might be wrong but the main character was either blond or had brown hair.
the main character is in his teens
it has been over 10 years since i have seen it. so i don't remember lots of details.

the "anime" i am talking about is not on that list.
i even tried looking at the "parallel universe page, but it held no result"
