Oh nice, I plan on keeping this thread updated if I find more. Do you like 2D scrollers? They seem to be more popular in the RPG maker community.
 
It's a shame they don't release RPG Maker games much these days. Little Goody Two Shoes is a personal recommendation of mine; if I remember correctly, the people who worked on that game were the same ones who worked on Pocket Mirror.

Mermaid Swamp is always forgotten; it's quite short, but I always liked it a lot. The Crooked Man series is a classic too; there are four games in the series? They're totally worth it. Does anyone know Desert Nightmare? I played it a long time ago, but I've never seen anyone talk about it; the story is actually good.

Yeah, they are working on a new game if I remember, the AstralShift team, did you check it out?

Do you have mermaid swamp remake? It's a bit different than the original.

I have played all crooked man series besides the steam versions. Best one is The hanged man for me.

I'm curious about desert kingdom, reminds me of, The Longing Ribbon.
 
sadly its been a long while since i played rpgm games.. the golden age has passed and the new games are both rare and way more advanced, which scares me a little lmao;-;

my absolute all-time favourites are wadanohara and yume nikki
with wadanohara, i cried buckets, and i love every single character. and the dev. her art is so cute, it really inspired my earlier artstyle in life! and certain trope choices wehehe. i also love her other games, and i replayed mogeko castle like three times!
with yume nikki, its such an important experience in shaping me as a person. i also love its fangames! my favourites are .flow and muma rope (i guess i have a thing for white-haired girls..?). i also like playing on yno! or liked, before they removed answered prayers for the silliest reason ever. i guess it is better to enjoy your favourite games in solitude after all..^^

other games i enjoyed include off, misao, hello? hell...o?, kohaku no yume, hello charlotte, the witch's house and akemi-tan
off is a fantastic game! but i kinda softlocked myself somewhere in the middle of the game by accidentally pushing a rock near the exit from the location, so i.. couldnt move at all..;w; i do want to hop on and play it again though! and maybe finally actually finish it..
misao is a wonderful short game that i replayed no less than six times^^ i loved the female protagonist, shes so cute and unhinged! and of course the story is tragic too:(
hello? hell...o? is one of those games i played from under my table, because im squeamish and im not good with horror. at all. im very easily scared! for the longest time i thought misao is the scariest game on planet earth! but i love how short and cute and kinda silly this game is. i love games that change a little every time you start anew^^
kohaku no yume has an immaculate atmosphere! also i love how you can jump from the bridge right at the beginning. a good start!
hello charlotte is very cute. its one of those "normal quirky" games that i cannot explain no matter what, but it also helped me to shape my artstyle and tastes in fiction a lot! i remember i successfully killed the murderous bear on my first try, and i dont think i can repeat the feat ever again lol
the witch's house is yet another tragic story that just! is so goddamn sad! and scary as fuck too!!!! just like with hello charlotte, i remember successfully escaping the stupid fucking skull on my first try, and i just KNOW ill NEVER be able to get it again..... but the game itself is wonderful..!! i dont like the remake though
akemi-tan is WONDERFUL. its an AMAZING game. its also the game that i cannot fucking finish due to how terrified i am every time i open it. i am very afraid of horror, and this game is so unsettling in its atmosphere i just. help.

with all that said, im also looking for recommendations! for both older games and newer games too^^ im aware of oldgen games, but since the rpgmaker site died, i dont know where to look up the info for the new games. so please give me your resources!!!!! and for newgen.. i dont know, its kind of scary.. LMAO but please do recommend me your stuff^^

i have to rec shtdn because agape and goyou are my icon rn >_< <3 it's mostly a game where you just walk around and enjoy the dialogue and it has a very lovely atmosphere... plus the characters are very very cute. love it

besides that heisei pistol show, cat in the box and off are favorites of mine as well. anyone who likes yume nikki needs to hop on ynfgs too! off the top of my head i can rec yume tsushin, nostalgic and debris... i also wanna check out eternal chrysalis dream and quilt sometime.

also i'm very fond of endroll and re:kinder (translated by vgperson, linked above)... do note endroll and re:kinder are heavy though... not feel good games at all lol but if your tastes are like mine then you should give them a try. grave of traumerei was decent too, i wasn't crazy about it like the others i mentioned but the art IS pretty nice!

and i want to know what others recommend... i must play more ><

the author turned out to be a lolicon, and was posting art on her socials, which mods didnt like. (nevermind the old loli bath urotsuki wallpaper that was in the earlier 2kki builds..)

SAME LMAO i tried reading explanation posts but they all boiled down to some.. disagreements about who would connect to which location? which led to some stupid highschool drama where someone leaked or sabotaged someone elses work? or something???? cant check that anymore because i left all yno-related discord servers shortly after the answered prayers stuff happened because i couldnt deal with these peoples kindergarten mentality

that seems so messy LOL and frankly unnecessary... hopefully migrating to their own website will mean this sort of thing won't happen anymore (or playing the offline build, even if it was originally meant for online play ig)

offline build shoudlve been a must simply for the preservation sake. im not even sure if older versions could be retrieved before new updates rolled out..;-; also i kinda missed where they migrated to. but even then, i wouldnt count on them too much, since even if the site is new, devs are all still the same.. or something;w; and its a shame too, because IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION i feel like collective unconscious is one of the rare examples of a yume nikki fangame that successfully captures the entire feel/vibe of the original yume nikki! if only people were as chill as madotsuki is T_T

i agree with you... perhaps a lot was lost due to that. also i don't think they're done migrating to their own website yet! but apparently development and updates are documented in their server and i'm allergic to those LMAO so i might miss it too... i really hope nothing of the sort will happen again bc it kinda diminishes your enjoyment, you know? even if i'm not personally involved in the drama... idk. maybe i'm being silly

omg i really get you...!!! i tend to see each ynfg as their own thing but it truly is so special when one manages to replicate how it felt to play yume nikki and i also think collective unconscious was great at it :(

I played a lot of RPG Maker (and WOLF RPG Editor) games lol

Some I enjoyed, and aren't mentioned on this thread, are: Dreamfarer, White Tombstone (an Identity V fangame), Hello Hello World, Cell of Empireo, Dead Plate, Escaped Chasm, Dweller's Empty Path, Your Turn to Die.

I also like 7th Stand User (a Jojo's Bizzare Adventure fangame), but the entire game is in black and white lol

I do! Though i haven't played many, i remember sally face and 1bitheart and hollow knight, demonophobia and xenophobia. Do you know more (especially if they're horror)?
