Research for Game Making - What Do You Guys Enjoy about Otome/ Interactive Fiction Games?

Thought hard about your question, and found I actually don't know what I'd like to see in a game. Things I like were good in one place and bad in the other, it almost completely depends on the writing quality, not the theme itself.

Creating a game based on people preferences is hard. We often want different things and expect to see different things in a product. But creating things you like is much easier. You probably aware of your weaknesses and strengths, so I think you will make a better game if you just do what you enjoy yourself. Hope someday see the result of your work

I'm a sucker for character customisation too, whether it's looks or personality.
And coming from RPGs, I really appreciate when choices actually branch out and change things, not just fake ones.
Would love to see more mature MCs as well (like, women in their 30s).

So true, I am ultimately going to make something that I like and enjoy, but I do want to learn more about what people like in games because that gives me exposure to things that I never considered before when thinking about the game-making process (e.g., making the font adjustable or toggling save options for users who want a more immersive experience). It also gives me inspiration for character dynamics, too, but yeah, I will work towards building something that I like at the end of the day, thank you again

I really agree with the mature MCs. It would be nice to see character age 21+ being reflected in games.
