Over RequiemZ Discussion Thread (Potential Spoilers)

I started Over RequiemZ two days ago and I'm already about to start my third route (Noil). I haven't seen a general discussion thread for it yet and I desperately need to hear other people's thoughts/impressions on the game so... :>

As for my thoughts...

Claude: He's my first route and although he didn't catch my eye at first, the scythe, his VA, and overall character turned things around. He truly did not deserve what he went through. Ending R made me cry a lot, like full on sobbing. I understand that Nenohs is truly a child — we reverse his name, a shonen, a young boy who wanted his parents back — but no, a brat is still a brat and he committed all those crimes. He's so close-minded, set in his ways and Claude's words couldn't get through him. On a side note, I didn;t bother to check on the VAs for the LIs so halfway into Claude's Dark route I kept going, "Wow his VA is absolutely insane." "Whoever his VA is, incredibly talented." Finally couldn't take it anymore and checked and...ofc. It's HIM. The goat Makonyan.
Ending ranking: R > M > O > A

Molly: He was actually one of the two LIs I had my eye on before starting the game (the other being Dorothy), so I was really looking forward to his route. Peak Dark route honestly, I felt like I was gonna ascend although the endings for his dark route were sort of disappointing imo. I like to do Dark routes first but for this one, I can't help but think doing Fact route first would have made it more wild when we first see Molly in Mother Rat's clothes. For me, in Dark route, the clothes being the only thing we could see and not Mother Rat's face while Yuhiru is trapped in the basement made me go, "Haha it'd be crazy if that the real Molly" (I WAS JUST KIDDING) and then it clicked even more after clicking the dialogue option of calling out Molly's name and Mother Rat say, "Yes I'll save you etc..." Ending R was a bit predictable but nice, may his soul not attempt to disappear ever again. Also, Osser wanting to hold his son's body even after knowing all that he's done made me tear up. He really loves his son.

My Impression of LI and Route in Over Requiemz

I'll have so much to say because its one of my fav game, i'll make it bullet point to make it easier for you guys to read

I'll write from my most favorite LI :

1. Kaize
Pro:

• Bonded with Yuhiru very naturally cause same hair and eye colors
• His drunk scenes and embarrassed chuunibyou moments are adorable
• His dark side especially the moment he chases yuhiru in the middle of the night in the castle is one of my favorite moments.
• A true selfless prince until the end. He's kind, collected, pacifist, badass, strong, wise and even merciful for others. One of his fate ending make me ugly cry, how he doesn't even hesitate to sacrifice himself for his citizen's sake, really, how kind can you be?
• He still try to grant Yuhiru's wish and made her life comfortable without any racism in his dark route and one of the ending is so good when he finally listen to her talk
• He really didn't do much in other's route but when he did something I fall in love with him once more (such as doesn't put Osser in jail in Molly's route, attacking Nenohs until he's flee out of palace in Claude's route, discover the secret behind the lord of the depth body regeneration in Noil's route)

Cons

• Almost too kind and forgiving despite everything he suffers in his life (poor little missunderstood lonely baby, Yuhiru go hug him. tuck him in a warm bed and give him a kiss or smth)
• Constant self-blame and low self-worth a litlle bit frustrating.
• When he fall into darkness, he really feels like a devil whispering and tempting Yuhiru's mind, it makes me scared while playing

Discussion
1. Idk why Yuhiru so eager to go home in Kaize's route (that led him bcoming more unhinged) when in other route she doesn't really wanna have reason to go back home, poor lonely boy keep wanting and begging her to stay in Oz with him but she's only thinking about home. Why do you guys think she doesn't want to stay in Oz in Kaize's dark route even tho Kaize already provided comfortable life for her? what do you guys think?

2. Devil can only exist from dead people's soul right? Why Kaize is one even tho he's alive? is it a plot hole or did I misunderstand the lore?


2. Molly

Pros

• I really love his sassy, dependable, sus, and protective personality, he always steal my attention in other routes (Especially in Claude's route) his comments and the way he treats the group member really make the group dynamic more fun and alive
• I like he gives constant words of affirmation and physical touch for Yuhiru and how he's very perceptive of Yuhiru's emotions
• Watching him eliminate the corrupt nobles and Mother Rat organization was deeply satisfying.
• I like the way he call Yuhiru "Hinadori" and he actually take care of Yuhiru, many drinking mouth to mouth scenes in the dark route making me dizzy from the hotness.

Cons

• Poor Yuhiru suffers the most horrific trauma here cause she got tortured by Mother Rat (i only wish it ends sooner when the scene played)
• Molly reckless decisions repeatedly lead to disaster for his beloved one, not only for his guild getting destroyed but also for Yuhiru (cause he didn't teach her anything about self defense while her life targeted by criminals)
• I wish he had obtained a human body in the ending so it make me disappointed it didnt happened
• A bit stubborn/cocky he thought he can handle the rat organization by himself (well maybe its cause he already closed his heart), glad he make it up in the end when he asked his friends to help him.

3. Noil

Pros

• Dependable, powerful, and surprisingly gentle. Really like the snuggling/hugging from behind moment with Yuhiru cause he's tall so Yuhiru fits perfectly in his arms.
• Probably Li with best chemistry with Yuhiru in the game.
• He cooks, keeps his promises, he attack and more importantly he protects, literally husband material.
• His character development when he's brave to face his coward self from years of false beliefs incredibly moving, poor boy life in fear all this year cause he got gaslighted by some jerk

Cons

• Hot-headed, a little bit intimidating, and sometimes too barbaric. I usually don't like character like him but he's surprisingly quite observative to his friends which make him special.
• Doesn't value his own safety and gets injured constantly. I mean how many times he have to experience near death moment in his route omgg. one of his dark ending really breaks my heart when he died.
• I wish he shut his mouth and didnt yap about Yuhiru's location during his fight with Eugene, such foolish action, dont you realize it make Yuhiru in danger?
• The cannibal theme not so scary, although the hunting moment is scary and brutal but when it comes to capturing Yuhiru it feels like bdsm fetish more than cannibalism

4. Dorothy

Pros

• He has nasty personality, slacks a lot, whining and has dark heart but I love him bcause it make him feels like genuinely human with flaws, I also like how he's funny especially when he said something and end up saying "uso desu" and overreact everytime something happened to Yuhiru lol
• I want to hug him when I know his backstory, he never lose hope for years, and his journey feels really lonely, his mental not breaking in fact route is beautiful, tho I don't blame him breaking in his dark route, cause how cant you not be crazy if you search and waiting for every little chance to meet again with your loved one just for her to forget you
• His conflict between what happened to Oz and choosing Yuhiru is beautifully written. and in his dark route its so cute how Yuhiru wanted to follow him everywhere like a kitten seeking for attention after the incident with Archray happened.
• Its so sweet how much he loves Yuhiru and prioritize her happiness to the point he doesn't mind she ends up with another LI, i notice this when he said he actually want to entrust her to the others and prefer to let her stay with other people in the group cause he cant be together with her for a long time

Cons

• His early behavior is genuinely off-putting especially his comment about Yuhiru cell and blood and smth like that when he apply medicine.
• He's very mean in the dark route for what he did to yuhiru's mental state, too much blood in his route and why the sexy moment also including blood (I guess im not that much into blood fetish and self harm?)
• One of his dark end jumpscared me in the middle of the night. that plot twist when you thought he gain sanity but actually the opposite. His other dark end tho, its quite messed up, its when he stopped caring for anything other than Yuhiru, now he can keeps Yuhiru to himself (isnt it great for you Dorothy? its gonna be a long time for you guys to be together after separated for years, now you two can repopulate Oz once again!). unfortunately his dark route and both his dark endings isnt my type.
• I hate how he cursed the king and make Kaize life miserable and full of misfortune, that gentle kind hearted boy didn't deserve any of the bs from the king business, what did Kaize even do wrong?

5. Claude

Pros

• Intelligent, dependable, patient and nerd in his field, not only that but he can also fight and he's pretty which make him 1000x more attractive
• His story about his family emotionally relatable it hits close to home to me, I cried with him when they found the rings of his late family members in the ruins
• I like how he's the tsukkomi of the group
• Actually more dependable as a big brother/older guy more than Molly (who keeps calling himself onii-san) and Dorothy
• His dark route is chilling and exciting, i remember i gasp when he outsmarts Yuhiru in the castle

Cons

• I hate how in dark route he's murdering Kaize (what did Kaize even do? Part 2) and innocent civilians just to isolate Yuhiru and make Yuhiru can only depend on him.
• In fact route, romance feels progresses slower, the skinship is lacking and Claude feels like someone older Yuhiru can rely on, also he and Yuhiru feels more like research partner more than someone in relationship thank good he propose to her in the end, I remember in the lab there's so many tension that I was frustrated and wish they kiss already but they end up doing nothing lol, disappointed
• His brutality with the scythe is terrifying. Imo, he's the most scariest yandere looking in the group with that black cloack and red eyes he really looks like a grimm reaper.
• The suicide ideation and suicide attempt in his route can be triggering for some people
• He's nice, but when i play other route he really lost his charm over time in my eyes and just bcome regular supporting character

Discussion: In Claude dark route Dorothy seems dissappear without news, do you guys think he already closed the portal? maybe he thoughts he finaly can go there with a peace of mind now that Yuhiru in Claude's care, if that's true, its so sad that he didnt know what actually happened to Yuhiru.

Favorite Routes

1. Noil (The most bittersweet route for both fate and dark route)

2. Dorothy (Pure angst, yearning, and obsession for years)

3. Kaize (Perfect balance of romance, action, and drama)

4. Claude (Slower romance, but good story development and satisfying fact route. His yandere switch in dark route is just mindblowing, didnt expect that at all from his character)

5. Molly (I love Molly, okay? but I hate his route. I hate the villain, hate the situation in both fact and dark route, his revenge is cool though)


Favorite Villains

1. Eugene (gyatt daym those tentacles.. umm one chance sir?)

3. Nenohs (Bratty brat never get spanked and told no by his parents and it shows, I will spank him until he begs me to stop and then I'll forgive him and turns him into my plaything)
   
   
4. Mother Rat (I hope you die, get tortured brutally in hell over and over until you rot there and your soul cant reincarnate you bastard, you're human but more evil than monster/enemy in other routes, holy shit what a piece of trash, I hate him so much)

Phew i finally managed to get this writing out there in my weekend, anyway glad there's more people who enjoy over requiemz here and i hope in the future more people get to enjoy this amazing otome as much as i do!
