Actually, I can only accept yandere characters in 2D; I would never want to get close to them in the real world.
For example, Kanato Sakamaki 逆卷奏人from <<Diabolik Lovers>> is just too terrifying:
He appears innocent and naive, but in reality, he's extremely emotionally unstable, often yelling or breaking down in tears. He's even attacked and hurt the female protagonist, and considered turning her into a doll.
Judging by his appearance alone, he's actually the younger brother type—loves to be pampered and craves care and affection.

My mind instantly went straight to Toma from Amnesia,help! 
Honestly, Toma is the ultimate guilty pleasure yandere for me, even with the infamous cage incident lol. On paper, drugging someone and locking them up "for their own safety" is totally unhinged, but the way he shifts from the super sweet, caring childhood friend into full-on overprotective madness just works so well for the drama.
In real life?Please keep me far away from any cages. But in fiction and otome games?Is different story,i am open to any kind of yandereness,ranging from mild to brutal ones

Actually, it's not a big deal for me, since I don't Self-insert as the protagonist. But I don't like it when a yandere character hurts the female lead and causes her real physical harm,that kind of thing. Still, it is just a game, so it's okay to have that too. I just hope there are multiple endings,for me, that kind of harm would count as a bad ending.

I agree with a lot of other people about NTR, that's probably my big no when it comes to yanderes. I also kinda prefer yanderes who SH over harming the MC... A little bit of harm is ok unless I really like the yandere then a lot of harm is ok - like Makoto in Sweet Pool (if that even counts).

I love the yandere troupe of course as long as it is fictional.
I know Toma is the iconic yandere but he isn't really that bad at all. In fact he feels pretty tame to me. I don't care if they are possessive or unhinged or even if they isolate the heroine from the rest of the world. As long as they do not harm the heroine then I am ok with it. I feel like if they truly loved the heroine they want them to be happy, protected, safe, and they'd do anything to do that even if it is building a empty cage to lock the both of them together.
I agree the repressed type of yandere is the best. My favorite character troupe is the fox type, sly. On the outside they are a gentleman, but they are truly unruly underneath their mask always watching the heroine's every move.
The term yandere seems to mean so many different troupes nowadays but I always feel like a yandere is a truly someone who will burn the world for an individual and rather than killing the heroine so no one gets her, he'd die with her so they never separate in death.

I'd actually love to see more extreme yanderes rather than characters who are just called that for being possesive. While not everything is for me and I do have my own preferences (NTR is the only thing where I draw the line lol), I can accept pretty much anything in fiction as long as the writing is good.
