Most likely, I go with the art and if there is a jap va. But yeah, I still play it even if there is no va.

Also if it is a modern otome game. Badly needing to cope with my mundane life by playing modern world otome games.

Sometimes, I go for the plot as well, I read through the summary. [ I don't do this often cuz work is not being so kind with me irl making me no time to dwell on reading much.]

First is definitely the art, especially if the illustrator is one of my favorites. Second is the plot. I don't really mind who the seiyuu is as long as the story is interesting, it's totally fine if it's voiceless too! lol Sometimes I read reviews or get recommendations from my friends, if it hooked me, I'll play it.

Kinda scared reading the reviews. 'cuz I'll be def be influenced right on spot and might not want to play it. [As much as possible I'll try to act as if comments don't exist atp :' )]
 
Same as everyone, art is definitely a big pull when I decide what I want to get into, but sometimes it's also fanart that pops up on my timeline and I can't help but be intrigued by the game. I try to steer away from reviews and seeing people's thoughts, but when you see others who are super passionate about a title and pour their passion for it into fanworks, you just can't help but want to find out what's the deal with it ( ˙꒳˙ )
 
As many others have already said, first thing is visuals - is it pleasing enough to look at? Next is description - does it sound interesting enough to start? The last is personal preferences - oh, it has a "horror" tag, I have to read it.
 
I think the first thing that makes me notice an otome game is the art and character designs. If I see a character who really catches my attention visually, I immediately want to know more about him. 👀
After that, I usually look at the story. I really like games with mystery, fantasy, time travel, secrets, and plot twists, so if the premise sounds interesting to me, that already gives the game a lot of points.
I also usually check a few reviews before buying, but I try not to look into things too much because I want to avoid spoilers. Mostly, I just want to know if the routes are good or if there's anything important I should know beforehand. ✧⁠◝⁠(⁠⁰⁠▿⁠⁰⁠)⁠◜⁠✧
 
Art usually draws me in first, and if its a plot Im interested in I check out a few spoiler free reviews to see if it was received favorably or not. If I see a lot of people saying they didnt really like it, I usually tend to put those waaaay later on the To Play list 😔
 
Personally, I would choose a story that is highly original and unlike any others, as I'm not particularly fond of storylines that feel too similar to one another.
 
I use vndb search engine. I fill up every tag, properties etc. that I found necessary (eg. Otome Game, Fully Voiced...+ many specific kinks:giggle:) and let the website filter out the games for me. Then I keep checking entries until I find a game with the artwork or synopsis that clicks with me.
