I do like them, but sometimes I prefer them to be half-siblings without a blood relation, although it's fiction after all, but I do like them hehe~ 🎀

I actually really like brother routes!
I'm an only child, so I've never had a real brother — maybe that's why I don't feel weird about it.
For me, it's just another type of fictional dynamic, like childhood friends or rivals.
The "forbidden" aspect can actually make the romance more exciting and emotionally charged. 💕

I don't really care about brother route, i don't actively search for it but if the premise is there i can still play the game (Brother conflict for example)

I like both older and younger brother routes.. I think they can be real cute and of course I never ever think of this as real life it's fun bc its fiction

It depends!

There are routes where it's just for fetish reasons and there are some that actually use it for the real "forbidden love" struggles and shows them overcoming it. I know in China when they use the sister/brother trope it is moreso on using the elements of an actual forbidden romance because obviously the whole world is against their love and so how do you go on to have a love where realistically the whole world would scorn you for that? It's basically like the western version of Romeo and Juliet.

Whenever a piece of media portrays something uncomfortable in a piece of media, I always go about "what was the creator trying to convey with this?" If it is for reasons like how China's media uses it, then I'm all for it! But if it is just for fetishizing then I feel uncomfortable with it, but I won't judge anyone who enjoys it.

I'm okay with the trope as long as they are step-brothers or adopted. If they share the same blood, it's a hard pass for me.

i don't like it tbh. though i'd still play the route anyway but it's definitely going to be my least fav in a game.

I love it when they're actually not blood related <3
when they actually are, I don't hate it, but it definitely make me uncomfortable >︿<

but I do get why lots of people like it, it's like adding to the excitement when it is taboo/toxic (○` 3′○)
who needs green flag when you can have red instead 🤣

Those routes are great when they really write about the love with a sense of immorality, no matter blood related or not. There are some stories that don't describe that and write them as normal stories, for example, just the same as a girl and a boy know each other since childhood with different age, which is a waste of this setting.

I don't mind if they are step-brothers or adopted, but I hate blood related relationships.

I like them.. Most are stepbrothers anyways haha.. Also as long as it's all fictional I don't really mind :)

It's fiction after all, so why not the real blood-related? xDd I just love the forbidden trope, and the siblings are a whole new level of intimacy, the toxic, the problematic, just chef's kiss xDdddddd

Though I prefer younger brothers more, they are rare ;-:

If it's a biological brother—only in a platonic sense, as opposed to the other romantic routes. Alternatively, a storyline involving a possessive brother who protects his sister from the wrong kind of guys, which could also be interesting. In other cases? Probably not...
Adopted siblings? Half-siblings? Well, why not, but generally I'm not a fan of incest storylines, so it all depends on the characters and the potential scenario and justification for such feelings. Unless we're talking about really dark themes, trauma, and other psychological issues—then I guess anything is possible ;).

it's interesting seeing people praise mizuhito's route when i found it incredibly boring and lacking depth. his route was basically just mizuhito: "i want to fuck you" mc: "no brother we're siblings that's disgusting!" mizuhito: "actually we aren't" mc: "okay brother let's fuck just don't go out anymore"😭😭 there was no build up whatsoever(imo) it felt like incest being added just for the sake of jerking it to the thought of it being incest rather than actually having depth/story/chemistry to their relationship. i wouldn't be against seeing a incest psychological route but every incest route i have played has just been boring to me i guess as an older brother myself im predisposed to not liking brother routes

I feel guilty i like this genre, especially if they related in blood. More immoral, more thrilling and sometimes make more interesting to the story.
But in the end, just for fiction :akazukin_pat:

I'm not a fan of stories involving blood relatives.

More than once, I've gotten interested in a title because of the voice cast, the thumbnail, or after quickly skimming the synopsis, only to realize later—after reading it more carefully or actually listening to it—that it involved blood relatives😅

i'd say that it's really not my cup of tea, blood related or not.
i wouldn't outright NOT play a route with it, but it'll hardly be my favorite. it usually comes with one of the parts saying "never in my life i have seen you as a sibling" or "i didn't see you that way before, but now........." and idk, it feels like it sometimes cheapens the relationship...? idk if i'm making sense lmao

though if i could justify myself, ig it is because i just like the found family trope a lot. the magical power of family, that blood is not thicker than water and whatnot.

I used to avoid playing them entirely, but after playing through Caleb's story from LADS I ended up loving him lmao 😅. I'm more open-minded to reading them now, but it really depends on how it's written if I'll enjoy it. Ones that address the internal conflict of wanting what is "forbidden" are really interesting to me!

I think it depends on how well the story & character is written. As long as it's interesting, I'll play it.

Reading the comments, I noticed there are quite a few people here who like Mizuhito and Majima from Butterfly's Poison. I love them too.

I have a real soft spot for brother routes in otome games. The LIs in those routes usually spend years secretly in love with the MC, constantly struggling because they believe they're not supposed to show those feelings or even allow themselves to love her in the first place. That's exactly the kind of angst I can't resist.
